I know a lot of you are opposed to even going after Carmelo Anthony, but this post is not so much about whether or not we should get him, as much as how we would get him. New York, Chicago, New Jersey, and even Dallas have been rumored to offering packages for the Nugget's All-Star forward. However, Phoenix has been stockpiling talent sub-star players since Amare Stoudamire bolted for the Big Apple in order to be able to attract a trade for a franchise talent. Well, now one is available. So, What package should we offer?
Remember, this post is not about whether or not we should acquire 'Melo, but rather what we should offer the Nuggets for him. My first package looks a bit over the top, but there will be plenty of teams willing to bid high for Melo and our offer needs to stand above those.
Melo for J-Rich and Earl Clark + 2 future protected 1st round picks.
Utah gave up two picks for Al Jefferson, who is definitely not a franchise player. So, two picks plus the cap relief of J-Rich's contract and the potential talent of Earl Clark seems fair for a top-10 player. What are your thoughts on this trade? And, what other trade ideas do you think would entice the Nuggets to send Melo to the desert?
