CARMELO ANTHONY
if you have been following up on the news lately, carmelo anthony has yet to sign his extension in denver. it is getting more and more likely that anthony will leave denver. most likely he is not going to want to go to a shitty team. he is going to want to join a team that has a chance to win it all. hmm.. lakers, magic, boston, orlando. what else is new. someone else that wants to join those teams. bu
t what everyone should understand is maybe he might consider a team that made it to the western conference finals? a team that lost in 6 games? a team that needs that little extra push to make it to the finals?
we have all talked about jason richardson being traded for a big man. we do have a lot going on at the small forward spot and im aware of that. but what if we could keep jason richardson and get carmelo by trading away our small forward spot.
i think the suns should definatly try and keep richardson because in my opinion, this is going to be his breakout year. he has spent more than a full season with this team under gentrys system and understands his role in phoenix. plus with amare gone he needs to step up his game a little on the offense and be that guy he was on the bobcats.
the point i am getting to is to let go of hedo turkoglu, earl clark, grant hill and some future draft picks to try and obtain carmelo.
the line-up i am dreaming of is: pg:nash, dragic
sg:richardson, childress
sf: carmelo, dudley
pf: warrick, lawal
c:lopez, frye
with this line up we still have very solid defenders in childress, dudley, lopez,
and we still have the amazing offense with nash j rich and carmelo
the only spot that needs some strength is the power forward spot. but most teams have 1 spot as a weakness. plus we could see some development in lawal for the future along with dragic, dudley, and lopez
what does everyone think??????

If Denver is not interested in NY's offer, why would they be interested in
a old, going to retire Hill, Turkoglu with a huge contract and bad performance last year, and Clark, a unproven talent. Plus if they accepted it, we would be good with Melo, and our draft picks would mean nothing.

TURRIBLE!
He's a selfish player, his BBIQ is pretty low, he's not a good rebounder, and he's not good defensively.

All true
And, check out the Fan Shot I posted earlier today. Melo is trying to go “Hollywood.” If you look at him overall, there is just no way he fits into the culture of the Suns.

#myfollowers what’s goin on? I heard today’s topic was i care about being a Hollywood star over basketball. I guess they running outta shit to say. Lol

What would you expect him to say?
The way he’s trying to engineer who his next team will be is much worse than what LeBron did because LeBron was a free agent when he did it. Two years ago, the Nuggets came at least as close as the Suns did last year to knocking off the Lakers in the WCF, and now Melo’s giving the Nuggets two big middle fingers. Is that what we want for the Suns?

Isn't this what Amare did on twitter?

I don't know. Twitter posts are self-serving so I don't put much stock in them
What did Amare say and when?
by East Bay Ray on Aug 27, 2010 8:03 PM MDT up reply actions
at trade deadline
he tweeted something like this “Stop staying Shaq and I don’t play well together, I had my best season with Shaq” when he was close to being traded to Cavs, and last offseason, “Amare to Lakers! Will take less money to win a championship”, this offseason “I think about free agency everyday, which team should I got to.”, and what’s with all this recruiting of Carmelo, Paul, LeBron by Amare, all I remember him recruiting here in PHX is Michael Finely in 04.

Interesting, and news to me
Another reason not to miss Amare. “Will take less money to win a championship”? LOL. Win a championship? On the Knicks? Hahahaha. Did he really think he’d be able to recruit LeBron? Or does he think he’ll be able to get Melo and/or Paul there?

guess you forgot about when he recruited steve nash that same year
and what’s with all this recruiting of Carmelo, Paul, LeBron by Amare, all I remember him recruiting here in PHX is Michael Finely in 04.
The name of the team is ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS - "I tried to convince them that what they were doing was an aberration, an imbecility, a stupidity without name"
Yeah, you're right
Nash’s agent even mentioned it in Nash’s introductory press conference. http://www.nba.com/suns/news/nash_presser_040714.html
It wasn’t just everyone at the podium. Rex Chapman, Dave Griffin, Amaré Stoudemire, everybody got involved to make this happen.

The only player I like on the Nuggets that we really need
is Nene. I like Melo but I think our SFs are good enough.
Steve Nash is my mancrush. But Goran Dragic is the 2nd coming of Manu Ginobili, which makes him just as tasty.
How the hell do you supposse that jrich and carmelo are suppossed to coeexist?
"Remember this sh*t at christmas!"-Terry Crews, The Expendables
Well, Anthony is a SF, and JRich is a SG.
They might be able to get along.
But I don’t like Anthony. I think he’s selfish, I don’t think he’s a good team player, and I think in Phoenix he’d be a divisive force. I gotta agree with NaxhMV3 – I like Nene, (even though he’s hurt again).

Yes, but carmelo's usage rate through his career has been 31.1%; jrich needs his shots as does melo, so I doubt they can conform and work together.

Yeah, Nene's a big body we could really use.
He can defend and his offensive game isn’t too bad. He can rebound with the rest of them too. He’s definitely one of the league’s most underrated players.
Steve Nash is my mancrush. But Goran Dragic is the 2nd coming of Manu Ginobili, which makes him just as tasty.
Well, when you play with a bunch of shot-jacking guards it is tough for a big man to perform.
Nene is a solid all-around player. He has a few moves around the basket, is mobile, and is also a good passer. He’d be a very good PF/back-up C in our system, especially if he plays with Frye to spread the floor. He’s one of the guys that I would love for us to bring in. The only concern for me would be how injury-prone he is.
The only way that Denver will be interested is if the Suns offer them Dragic + J-Rich + Clark. Our lineup will be:
PG – Nash / ???
SG – Turkoglu / Childress
SF – Hill / Dudley
PF – Melo / Warrick / Lawal
C – Lopez / Frye
Ideally, I would prefer including Warrick into the trade rather than Dragic, but I don’t think Denver will be interested unless they receive Dragic. this brings back the question “where can we find a back up point for Nash??”
Please sign Dudley to an extension!
That's not a question unless we trade Dragic - which would be insane.
Denver isn’t in much of a position to demand anything – they are in the same situation we were last year with Amar’e – and nobody was offering us jack for him. To give up Dragic, Clark, and JRich – 60% of a pretty good team – Nononononononononononono.

Because Dragic can school Kobe.

Just so my opinion is completely clear
Carmelo Anthony will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever be a Phoenix Sun.
really, be straight with us man

I agree. I don’t think they’ll offer anyway, but please don’t do it.

Trading for Melo would only look like salary dump.
There’s no way he’s gonna sign an extension for the Suns. Getting Nene would be a lot better.
In my opinion, we don't devote nearly enough scientific research to finding a cure for jerks. - Calvin
Nene has a player option next summer
just like Amare did this summer.
So he’s not necessarily a better pickup than Carmelo, if you’re trying to avoid losing the guy pretty quick after giving up a lot for him.
Blogging Suns Basketball at Bright Side of the Sun
I like that trade. I would low ball the Nuggets like many teams did with us. Give them Grant, Turk, Clark and a 1st round pick.
I like this line-up.
PG Nash/Dragic
SG J-Rich/Childress
SF Carmelo/Dudley
PF Warrick/Lawal
C Lopez/ Frye
Don't trade Dudley!
If they don’t take that than the only way we could get Melo is if we traded J-Rich, Dudley and a pick. That isn’t worth it though. If this was the case we really wouldn’t be that much better than we are now. We still wouldn’t be a Championship team.
Carmelo is not the answer.
We need a piece that could take us over the top. Most likely a true PF like what the Lakers got in Gasol. Horford ain’t that bad of an option, but we shouldn’t get him if it cost us J-Rich. Probably, Warrick, Clark, a 1st round pick to low ball them. If that doesn’t work, I’d even be willing to throw in Dudley, but that is ONLY if Childress proves to be the player we think he is. If Dudley was traded, hopefully Lawal could be our new “energy, hustle like guy” because we really wouldn’t have one.
Don't trade Dudley!
