Have you seen the quote about Amare' on Silver Screen and Roll?
"Remember Amare Stoudemire, the guy Pau Gasol humiliated in the Western Conference Finals to the point he started crying like a little baby right there on the court* and fled the conference in shame? Back in 2004, he told the Phoenix Suns not to sign Kobe Bryant. In possibly related news, the Phoenix Suns still haven't won an NBA championship."
i know they must have a pretty warped view of reality to be Laker fans in the first place, but they must have really been on something to write this!

You can’t take Laker fans seriously. They’re like spoiled rich kids or more so like that girl on Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. You sort of just laugh and look at them in disgust. You get what mean?
Don't trade Dudley!

Typical Laker fans, that’s all I will say.
Their sheer ignorance and delusion can be entertaining sometimes, but it’s always a pain in the ass.
They're trying to take my tortillas!
I know who wrote it
But out of respect for him, I’m not going to mention his name. You guys can look for it on the front page if you wish. I will say that I know this guy is a very reasonable and sensible man, and I could not believe my eyes when I read that quote. It didn’t sound like him at all.

I’ve seen you over there plenty. for the most part I’d say SSR are good host but they can have bit of a warped view…I once saw a long thread on “if” lakers should trade odem for bosch…OK. on another note your boy west went to bosten, what did think of that move. I prfedict this turns out to be a positive move for his carreer.

A great percentage of Lakers "fans" are bandwagoners.
It’s pathetic. They hop on the bandwagon after the Pau Gasol trade and start spewing crap from their mouths about them being untouchable. It’s so incredibly easy for them to say they’re fans of the Lakers and brag about their success. Seriously Laker “fans” are the worst.
Steve Nash is my mancrush. But Goran Dragic is the 2nd coming of Manu Ginobili, which makes him just as tasty.

a select few that you have had experiences with,
do not represent the majority.
from what i have read on SS&R, most of the people on the site have been fans since they were little. Im sure there are bandwagoners, as every team in every sport that wins championships is bound to have. Just look at the Saints this year. Ive seen so many saints fans come out of nowhere, its ridiculous. Celtics fans came out of nowhere after 20 years of hiding in the closet. Heat fans are now showing up on SS&R, so they pop up with winning teams, thats human nature.
I wasnt even goign to comment on your post, but the “great percentage” part of your post kept poking at me. Its so easy for fans of other teams to hate us, but come on, really…. probably more like a small percentage, atleast over at SS&R. Im sure there were less Laker fans to annoy you when you guys were beating us in the playoffs a couple years ago, but I know most of us regulars at SS&R were fans back then as well……..
Just my .02

In defense of SSR
I’ve spent plenty of time over there and like any site your gonna have homers who don’t know what they’re talking about, homers who do know whet they’re talking about and all points in between. admittedly there does seem to be a higher percentage of bandwagoners over there, but that happens with success. I see stuff like this and see an oppertunity for healthy debate…ya just gotta remember if your on thier site your a guest and you’ll need a measuerd tone and thick skin.

it's certainly not as delightful, charming, or elegant as BSOTS...
but there’s some funny stuff on SSR at times. PtR, the San An site, is also fun to read at times, especially when the Suns were kicking the snot out of the Spurs in the playoffs! no, i expect other sites to be anti-Suns, it’s just the whole Lacker-Crowboys-Yankers syndrome of we-bought-our-championship-all-others-must-bow-to-us spiel that i find soooo nauseating. fine, you bought or were handed your championship— let us cheer our amazing, over-achieving, super-interactive TEAM! we will never worship your band of whiny, selfish, i’ve never-committed-a-foul-in-my-life, low-class type of players…

unsuprisingly, it seems to elude them...
that until Gasol was gifted to them by Laker BBF Jerry West, the Lakers hadn’t done jack, and their hero Kobe was packing his bags.
The fact that they’ve gotten 2 ‘chips since that time is more a testament to Jerry Buss’s sweaty backroom dealings than the individual accomplishments of their magical leader Kobe.
if by jack,
you mean winning 3 titles back to back to back in the early 00’s………
than yes, we didnt do jack.

ok, I should have gone slower for the Lakers fans, my mistake...
-The article is about events in 2004
-Amare was referring to a choice between Nash and kobe in 2004
-The post was reflecting on the wisdom of that decision since 2004
-Those fabulous championships happened from 2000-2003, making them prior to 2004
Therefore, yes, you are correct, from the time period of 2004-Pau, the Lakers hadn’t done jack.

Back in 2004, he told the Phoenix Suns not to sign Kobe Bryant.
Even if he did, Kobe wouldn’t have came, because he didn’t want to leave LA.
"I don't lift weights because they are heavy, and I don't run because it makes me tired." - Charles Barkley
TURRIBLE!
He did in 07 though. In fact, he said the Suns were one of his choices. Coach D said, “Yea right, like were going to trade half of our guys for him.” Looking back, I wouldn’t have minded trading Marion, Bell and Amar’e for him. Although, I feel like Kobe and Nash wouldn’t be able to co-exist. Better that we didn’t.
Don't trade Dudley!
I wouldn't have included Amare in a deal for him
especially since Chicago’s offer was Gordon and Deng.
"I don't lift weights because they are heavy, and I don't run because it makes me tired." - Charles Barkley
TURRIBLE!
I wouldn’t have either, but now that Amar’e is gone I don’t really care.
That Chicago deal was near done by the way, the only thing left to happen was for Kobe to agree and he said, “no”.
Don't trade Dudley!
LAL liked the deal though, they thought Deng = Pippen.
Kobe didn’t like it because he wanted to play with Deng.
Anyways, I just read this quote over at SS&R, it’s really low for a staff member to write that IMO.
"I don't lift weights because they are heavy, and I don't run because it makes me tired." - Charles Barkley
TURRIBLE!
I wish I could go back in time and some how some way convince Kobe’s agent to say, yes for him without Kobe knowing before it’s too late. We would probably have gotten the title last year. The Nuggets probably would have won in 09 as well.
Don't trade Dudley!
Yeah, but we would have had to root for Kobe.
Couldn’t do that.

I think Nash and Kobe would make the deadliest backcourt.
If Kobe were to play with a traditional PG, his scoring would be off the charts. Although Marion, Bell, and Amar’e for Kobe = greater harm than good.
Steve Nash is my mancrush. But Goran Dragic is the 2nd coming of Manu Ginobili, which makes him just as tasty.
I didn't realize LA was demanding all 3
But in hindsight Marion and Bell both sucked pretty bad without Nash. So it would have been more like an Amare for Kobe trade…
In God we trust, all others must bring data.
I think theoretically, Kobe and Nash would be a bad pairing.
Ball-dominating players like Kobe need to be paired with spotup shooters, not playmakers. This is why he’s been playing next to Fisher for years, and why the Roy/Miller backcourt in Portland has created issues.

I agree with that. I wish Kobe just went to Chicago. I’m tired of the best team in the NBA always being in the same conference as us. It means no finals appearance and it makes Nash look bad. Stockton didn’t have the face the best team in the NBA until the Finals because they were in the opposite conference.
Don't trade Dudley!
Well I still hate Memphis for doing that to us.
That season was quite possibly our year. 2007-2008 was supposed to be a WCF between the Spurs and Suns (projected anyway) and the whole Gasol trade went down. That screwed us and the NBA. I don’t mean to be immature about it but I’m still sore about it.
Steve Nash is my mancrush. But Goran Dragic is the 2nd coming of Manu Ginobili, which makes him just as tasty.
The way the Spurs were by the end of the year we would have had a chance too. Their offense was just terrible by the end of the season. I think we could have beaten them in 6 games, but I doubt we could have beaten New Orleans if we had played them. They swept us that year int he season series. Who knows? We may have made the Finals, but Boston would have crushed us.
Don't trade Dudley!
2Nashty is probably right about those words probably being by homers; and good job for giving them the satisfaction of seeing annoyed Suns fans.
oh, Suns fans are annoyed at the mere existence of the Lackers, so that's ok then...
by SteveNash, QuantumPhysicist on Sep 6, 2010 11:25 PM MDT up reply actions
Annoyed?? I’m so sickened and disgusted by the “Lackers” that I was not as emotionally engaged during these WCF as I was in previous series versus the Fakers. I think I emotionally disengaged somewhat, for my own good.

if nash wins don’t go blowing shit up that we need…
"I’ve been in the league 14 years and I don’t think I’ve been called for a carry yet. It’s news to me," "I’ve never heard anyone complain about me carrying the ball. The best coach in the league Gregg Popovich didn’t have a problem with it last week."
Sup sarge
I hope we see you guys in the WCF this year, that was fun trading jabs with you guys at SSR (would have been funner if PHX had won…some day). any way congrats on the championship, they look even tougher this year (no more pot shots at your bench)

but please don’t accuse us BrightSiders of being onionskins (or something like that) who take sports way too seriously.
