BSOTS Positional Rankings

As most of you I'm sure know, ESPN has been doing their NBA Player Rankings and then discussing each one in a roundtable. I've been waiting a while to see where our beloved Steve Nash would fall on their list and by my calculations, it's likely he gets named today somewhere in their 16-20 ranks. If he doesn't get named today, it's a lock that he'll be named on Friday.

For me, it's been a nice distraction from the lockout crap going on right now. But since we all know that ESPN kind of sucks and Bright Side of the Sun is all kinds of anti-suck, I figured it would be fun to get some rankings going here.

So here it is.. Name the top 5 players in each position. We're doing it by position because I like that type better than themore subjective overall rankings. You can name the top 10 or 20 in each position if you feel like it, but only the top 5 is required. After a week or so, I'll collect all the rankings, do some mathematics, and give you our consensus positional rankings. That's it.. so get to it Bright Siders!

Yeah

Power forward and center positions were hardest for me. PF because it’s pretty deep and center for the opposite reason.

The REAL Big 3: Nash, Frye and Gortat

by The Solution on Oct 14, 2011 2:17 AM MST reply actions

This is based on my projections

for how they would have performed if there was actually a season this year. This is not based on last season’s performance. I have some players rising and falling accordingly.

C – 1. Howard 2. Bynum 3. Chandler 4. Duncan 5. Horford (radar – M. Gasol)
PF – 1. Griffin 2. Nowitzki 3. Stoudemire 4. P. Gasol 5. Aldridge (radar – Love)
SF – 1. Durant 2. James 3. Anthony 4. Gay 5. Pierce
SG – 1. Wade 2. Bryant 3. Martin 4. Harden 5. Ginobili
PG – 1. Paul 2. Rose 3. Westbrook 4. Williams 5. Nash

I would rank Durant as the overall #1.

It was only called the mildly irritated house on McDowell until I showed up.

I like that rondo is not on it

rondueche is a very good gaurd…but way overrated IMO. bold move projecting Griffin at #1, can’t say I completely disagree.

"Maybe I’m old school," Nash said, "but I signed a contract to play here and I want to honor it. I feel like I owe it to my teammates and the city and everybody to keep battling until they tell me it’s time to go." STEVE (God of Basketball) NASH

I'll probably take my time getting all 5 positions sorted.

PG
1) Chris Paul (top 5 player, can dominate a game by himself or with his teammates)
2) Deron Williams (there aren’t many 20-10 PGs any more)
3) Derrick Rose (slight edge over Steve because of his ability to completely dominate a game with his scoring; I’d still rather have Steve)
4) Steve Nash (best pure point guard, but age/injury has taken it’s toll in his ability to dominate a game)
5) Russell Westbrook (very similar to rose, just a little behind in his development)

Westbrook is only close to Rose on offense

Defensively, Rose is elite, and Westbrook is a chump.
