I'm not going to talk about why I love basketball or how I became a fan. This is a message to the owners and players of the NBA.
Listen Players and NBA dudes (That means you Stern!), we the fans know. We know who you are. We know and we didn't have to ask, you showed us. We know you're just a bunch of super rich guys arguing over every last penny you can get your dirty paws on. We see your egos, we see your pride, your greed and we're not impressed.
Put those hands down Stern! Stop acting like the victim because you're not. This is all your fault anyway. You're the doof brain who gave those players these big contracts in the first place, so stop acting so innocent.
Same goes for the other owners, especially Sarver. I mean dude, just shut up. Nobody cares what you have to say. I'm sorry, but if you didn't act like such a jerk, maybe people would take you a little more serious? Just maybe.
Now, you players. You're not that great either, even if you'd like to think you are, but your not. You think you make the game, but you don't. We the fans make the game.
I am aware that many of you guys had to work hard to get here, but that doesn't mean a dang thing! Working hard to find and get your career going, staying in shape, working your butt off on the court, doesn't make you a hard worker. I'm sorry, but it doesn't. It just means you work hard at your job. Plenty of people do that and plenty don't, but it's really not that hard to work at something when your getting paid.
The things that take real hard work are the simple things that we all take for granted, like each other; seeking to understand rather than only seeking to be understood, as well as trying to be a good person and getting along with others, SACRIFICE! Those are the things that are hard to do and apparently you guys and the owners can't do it or just choose not to. I don't know, maybe you just need a wake up call or something, something to open your eyes?
Don't get me wrong, nobody is perfect and I'd be the first to admit it. I'm sure many of you are decent people if not good and I'm not trying to judge you. However, some things are just out of our control. Life experience has taught me that it's not what we can do or what we have that make us who we are, but what we desire and what we do do. Right now, you guys aren't doing good and that's where I'm judging you.
I'm actually not angry, even if this post has made the readers think otherwise. After all, it is just a game. However, the world can see this. One of the draw backs of being in the entertainment business is that for some reason, people and especially the younger generations tend to look up to you guys. You're a role model even if you don't want to be. Understand that being humble doesn't mean to think less of oneself, but to think less about themselves. Set a better example. You have the advantage of technology and being popular. You're on TV! Show the world something we rarely see, something good. Be an example. This is a great opportunity to do that.
Again, you're not the victims. The Fans are and if it weren't for us, you the players and the owners wouldn't have a job despite all your hard work to get that job.
To the NBA: This is your fault, so stop acting like its not. "NBA Cares". Really? Prove it!
To the Players: You need to sacrifice and stop playing the victim. It's not working and it's only making you look bad.
"It’s not the players’ fault, it’s the owners’ fault and I think (the players) should give a little bit," the Hall of Famer said. "And that way, things will move on."
"Most players don’t give a damn about the game," he said. "They want the money and all of a sudden they want unity. I’m not taking the owners’ side. I think the players should look at themselves."
Why is it that out of all you NBA players and former players as well as owners, that Dennis Rodman seems to be the only guy to get it? Seriously, Dennis Rodman? What does that say about you? Come on guys, grow up, set aside your pride, show the world something good, get a deal done and prove us wrong!
We fans stand united. Let us watch! End this lockout!
