Gani Lawal=Lou Amundson 2.0
Could Gani Lawal be our next Lou Amundson??? Both guys are listed at about 6'9, 230 range. Both bring a lot of energy and rebounds. I think Gani Lawal could be Lou with a better jump shot. If he gives this team a spark off the bench I think that could go a long way. It seemed like he was tearing it up in the Polish league (I know it is the Polish league). I am kind of excited to see what this guy can do, and we need to start thinking of a chant similar to LOUUUU to get this guy going.

But does Gani ride a bicycle to work?
I don’t see it unless he breaks out the bicycle.

Eh, I can see him filling a similar role, but he’s a different player.
He’s better on offense because he knows how to get position and finish at the rim. He also doesn’t have stone hands as far as I’m aware.
It’s true he’s a good rebounder, but he’s not the same defender Lou is, at least at this stage. Potential is there, but he still has a lot of developing to do.
Finally, he doesn’t have a jumper at all, so I’d call that category a wash.

OK so
Gani has no offensive game or jump shot whatsoever.
But he may have bigger hands and may be more physically gifted than Lou, so we still may have Lou 2.0. Just don’t try to imagine a jump shot because there isn’t one.

I always thought of Lou's athleticism as being very good
aside from his hands. How many PF/C’s out there can switch out onto a PG and not be immediately blown by?

He was pretty mobile (partly do to being undersized).
Just not explosive.

Well it doesn't take much to beat Lou's jumper.
Give him a couple years with the shooting coaches, with the rate this guy gets to the line he better develop that jumper quickly.

Saw a few jumpers by Lawal for Poland. He has one but that really isn’t the game they have him playing.
