Steve Kerr looks like he can still play….

Durant kinda sucked in the 3-point contest…Is it just me or is it really enjoyable to watch Paul Pierce fail?

It's probably because he's a dislikeable person.

Out of all the Celtics, the only one I actually like is Ray Allen.

me too. I like Allen's personality.

He’s the only one humble person there in Boston. All other guys especially Pierce and Garnett thinks they’re really cool now because they have a ring but truely, in the eyes of nonBoston fans, they’re not and theyre just dumbasses,, except for Ray.

The NBA likes to make believe it's because they have billions of Chinese fans...

Who all vote for Yao.

But really, Houston stuffs the ballot box like crazy.

I went to one of their games and they tried to recruit me to this boiler room operation they had going where you could get free team gear if you sat there for an hour before the game filling out all-star ballots for their top guys.

Not sure if the other teams do that or not, but I got the distinct feeling that the fan voting is about as credible as an election for president of Iran.

Blake Griffin was more powerful though.

McGee’s were very creative and impressive, but they didn’t make me jump off the couch and stomp my foot on the ground like Blake Griffin’s did. When a man throws down a dunk with that much power, it’s just not normal. McGee did dunk through two hoops at the same time, but it just didn’t have the same sort of "authority’ that BG’s dunks did.
But that’s just my opinion. And I am incredibly biased towards Blake Griffin.

Well I agree that his were more powerful.

But if they’re going to bring out the car, make it something that really will make us jump on our feet. Point the car at you, and jump over to dunk. Sorta like that fake Hyperdunk video Kobe did without the car moving. I like McGee’s creativity. Everyone was impressive this year. If Blake hadn’t missed his first attempts on his first 2 dunks, I wouldn’t be skeptical at all.

by hcblankscreen on Feb 19, 2011 9:17 PM MST reply actions

Agreed.

Every non-Griffin dunk of the first round was EPIC.

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."

How did he deserve to win?

His second dunk was the worst of the whole deal but they gave him enough points to just get past Demarr. He got more points for windmilling off the side of the backboard than Demarr did for going between his legs off the frame, don’t get me started on that lame car (hood) jump.

Achievement is its own reward, pride obscures it.

by hcblankscreen on Feb 19, 2011 10:28 PM MST up reply actions

I agree.

Serge jumped from behind the free throw line, and Blake jumped over a car that was sideways, not even facing him. Also, I think the dunk contest is about getting creative with it, and I didn’t see that from Blake. I was rooting for McGee that whole way, I really liked his two and three ball dunks, and even though his last dunk wasn’t great, the rest were really really good.
I thought the finals should have been Ibaka and McGee, but that might be because I kind of hate Blake Griffin.

by bmiller16 on Feb 19, 2011 10:36 PM MST up reply actions

I don't know about you guys,

but it seems like it might be sort of hard to jump over the hood of a car, while catching a lob pass from the sun roof, and throwing it down with authority.
You can totally have your own opinion about Blake Griffin’s dunks last night and I won’t question you at all. But for me, what I saw was enough to make me think he deserved to win.

Man... it almost feels like Jordan stole the cradle dunk from Mr. Nance.

And the 2 ball dunk was impressive. This year really felt like a possible resurgence of the dunk contest. But a lot of the best dunks have already been done, courtesy of “he who Scott wishes to see lit on fire” and “he who no Bright Sider wished to see get traded”.
