Should You Be Worried About A Player With A Bad Reputation Coming To Phoenix?
With the trading deadline coming up in just a few days, I've been thinking why I've stuck with this team. I'm also a fan of other teams and players, but the Suns are my number one team. I've been a Suns fan since I was a kid, but never really asked myself why. They've never won a championship and they've had some awful seasons (this one isn't really THAT bad...yet) but I know every team has its up and down. Sure, I grew up in Arizona and that might be a part of it, but I doubt I would be a Timberwolves fan if I lived in Minnesota. So why should I care about this team so much more than the other ones?
This is the hardest working team that has great chemistry and I don't mean just playing-wise, because every team has/needs that. The Suns have a sense of humor that no other team seems to have, except maybe Orlando since they have Howard and whichever team Shaq ends up with for the season. You have Dudley making his JMZ for the fans and Nash with his YouTube channel(although he kind of stop posting videos). I think this is the reason they get along so well. Even Shaq fit in well in his short time with this team. It's just a shame that he couldn't play with the team right and that Hack-A-Shaq made me really mad. I thought it was funny when he kept stealing Lou's bike and hiding it during practice.
Most of the players they acquire throughout the years seem to have that great personality (Lou, Barbosa, STAT!). Earlier this season when Pietrus, Gortat, and Carter came here after the trade, they were already joking around before they even got to play a game and Pietrus even joked about challenging Nash to a soccer game. I remember telling myself how decent this trade was with everyone's positive attitude coming here...even with Carter. The last thing we needed was some Debbie Downer coming into this team and spreading negativity in the locker room.
Here's a video that pretty much explains why this franchise is awesome. I know most of them aren't on the team anymore but ignore that part. You'll never see the Lakers doing anything like this for their faker fans...yet alone embarrass themselves in front of everyone (poor Goran). Also, I didn't know BAMF could play the keys!
Now, back to the trade deadline. By now, we've all read about the rumor of getting rid of Carter and Diaw coming back here with some players. Part of me wants to keep the current roster cause they've been playing decently and finally got chemistry, but another part of me want to get new players to see if it can help the team improve. Let's face it, we have some talented players, but we still keep making these stupid little mistakes. Not having a real PF doesn't help either. Carter and Pietrus was suppose to help us offensively when J-Rich left and that didn't work at all. I'm not going to rant about them and their issues since we get enough of that on the game thread already.
To be honest, I'm a little concerned after looking at the players from the other teams that are available for trade. Earlier, I was talking about this team being great because of the players having good relationship and not having issues with each other...well maybe Lopez and Pietrus but I can't confirm that. I read about the possibility of bringing Stephen Jackson and O.J. Mayo into this team. Both players have a bad reputation and I think bringing either one of them here would be horrible. It would ruin the team's chemistry especially in the locker room and that's never a good thing. I guess it could be worse like DeMarcus Cousins or Gilbert Arenas coming here. If this happens (I doubt Mayo would come here), let's just hope they change their attitudes. Can you imagine one of them being in JMZ's video? Maybe Nash can put some sense into their head.

Nice post
I agree, the Suns seem to have a great attitude when it comes to basketball and life. I’ve always thought of them as a classy team.
I wouldn’t be too worried if a player with a bad reputation came here (As long as he is/was talented). I think it would be pretty hard to get into a fight with Steve Nash and Grant Hill, and the rest of the team listen to Steve Nash and Grant Hill, and have a special respect for them. I think that if a new player were to come to the Suns, the rest of the players would welcome them immediately, like they did for Gortat, Pietrus, and Vince Carter.
I honestly think that if a player with a reputation for going against the law, being rude and unsportsmanlike, Steve Nash could turn him around.
That's what I was thinking...
Steve, Grant, and Gentry can turn them around. Gentry is like a father and really cares about his team.

Another burden for Steve
It’s hard enough to be a good leader and a good teammate. We shouldn’t put the burden of therapist on Steve, that’s asking too much.
Want epic? Go to Bright Side of the Sun threads. We're more Homer than homer.

We have had players with bad attitudes
Q Richardson had a bad attitude. Shawn Marion had a bad attitude. Amare stoudamire was an egotistical cocky guy. Shaq was Shaq. Now we have Vince Carter. As long as the guys who truly get the job done come to work everyday and buy into the system, all of the others will fall in line. It is when your best player has a bad attitude and dominates the culture where you have to worry. [i.e., Marbury].
We have nothing to worry about as long as Nash and Hill are in that locker room.
In my opinion
Marbury is def on my top 3 worst Suns players…he’s right up there with Horry.
