The Real Reason Why Barbosa was Traded... (Rumor)
DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) Leading off today’s Buzz: The Phoenix Sun’s Leandro Barbosa was a huge fan favorite and got traded this past summer before the NBA season began and why? Well, rumor has it that it was because he was messing around with Steve Nash’s wife! Supposedly, Barbosa was traded because Nash caught wind of the affair and that’s why Nash all of a sudden got that bizarre divorce after his wife had their baby! He realized that the child wasn’t his and then decided to split from her immediately after the birth!

not sure what to think. They just ate diner together in Toronto apparently.
Doesn’t seem far fetched…

This is probably the fourth time this bullshit has been discussed on BSotS.
On a related note, there’s a rumor that the moon landing was faked!

I mean, there’s overwhelming evidence that it wasn’t, but this picture does make you think.

if you dont feel it relates or is important to you, dont post.
this is a blog. thats why there is a section for fans to post.

The only way to prove it
is to go to the moon and if you don’t see the moon rover which they supposedly left there, then it’s fake. Oh yeah the footprints too I guess.

TMZ has broken several stories...
…and gotten them right when the rest of the media were chasing their tails. Being right about stupid shit is not the same as being wrong.
And as for your “major news source”, if you follow the links, that gets sourced to terezowens.com citing a single anonymous source. That doesn’t make it not true, it just makes it less “major news source-ish.”
All that said, it doesn’t hurt anyone to re-post this considering that text actually comes from a Dallas CBS affilliate, which I could see someone confusing with a “major news source”. It’s clearly marked as a rumor and relates to the Suns just as much as calling Kobe a rapist relates to the Lakers (which NEVER EVER happens in our game threads). It’s no more offensive than idle rosterbation or the routine drive-by character assassinations we see against players who aren’t subject to the “Steve Nash is God” laws of fan worship.

but...Steve Nash IS god...isn't he....isn't he.... . ...?
"Maybe I’m old school," Nash said, "but I signed a contract to play here and I want to honor it. I feel like I owe it to my teammates and the city and everybody to keep battling until they tell me it’s time to go." STEVE (God of Basketball) NASH

What does it accomplish to repeat this rumor?
There is no evidence whatsoever to support it, and all the rumor does is make Barbosa, Nash’s ex and Nash look bad.
With all due respect to this being your first fan post, I think you should delete it.

what does it accomplish to repeat any rumors?
We are constantly dissecting the team to figure out what is going on and its chemistry.
I feel this rumor sheds light on the team, or at least, what the team was going through at the beginning of the year.
NYC Suns Fan!!!
Seriously?
I feel this rumor sheds light on the team, or at least, what the team was going through at the beginning of the year.
Despite the fact that there is zero hard evidence to support it, you think this rumor explains “what the team was going through”? Why? Because some guy on the radio mentioned it?
And, please tell me you realize the difference between a rumor like this one and a Steve Nash trade rumor.

really?
Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."

I can't believe a sports radio station ran with this.
But I have also heard this rumor. Seems ridiculous considering LB/Nash still communicate.
Also the real reason the Suns traded LB is because he made way too much money for what he was.

i thought the same thing
which is partly why i posted this to see if anyone else had heard anything else to back it up.
I am not personal friends with Nash and I whatever happened I really dont care. but i do think that if he was going through this all season i have 100000% more respect for how he handled it and how well he is playing through it.
I dont know if this relates, but his scoring has suffered since the Toronto game. However, they did a fund raiser together.
Whatever,
NYC Suns Fan!!!
Yeah....that Turk guy had a totally reasonable contract.

get off your pedestals, with all due respect.
Steve Nash is a player on our favorite team and it has much to do with the play this year and the teams chemistry.
I did not write this to bash on anyone, i was simply asking if anyone had more information and the validity of this story.
Thats kind of what a blog is for.

don't get so defensive
it’s natural for people to defend this type of thing, I personally have heard the rumor before and I find it improbable, doesn’t mean it’s not true, just my opinion.
They had that party together after the last raptors game, and i for one wouldn’t hang out with the guy who had an affair with my wife.

LB said he requested a trade
because of his diminished role after coming back from surgery. Dudley came in and stole his job. Gentry even said he couldn’t figure out how to get Barbosa minutes. Also if the baby was Barbosa’s it would be quite dark skinned. Steve Nash is not dark skinned.
If you really want to dig up some dirt then figure out what was going on with the Tony Parker and Longoria divorce with rumors about TP getting sext messages from Brent Barry’s wife. Both are now divorced. Desperate Housewives indeed.

rumor is the baby is black
earliest name thrown out was j-rich. so far it’s j-rich, or barbosa, or random black dude.
People love, Barbs and Nash, so the wouldn't want to believe this rumor.
I won’t either un less it’s actually proved true. Nash and Barbs still get a long and aren’t they supposed to play together in some upcoming charity event? That’s actually more evidence supporting that the rumor is false.
Don't trade Dudley!
I say put the rumors down for now.
And wait till the kid grows up, then judge all you want.
Twitter: @FredLegittt
Actually, what I heard is that Nash and LB were lovers,
and that Steve’s wife, feeling neglected, decided to get revenge by going to a sperm bank behind Steve’s back. Upon hearing that Nash’s wife was pregnant, a heartbroken LB requested a trade, despite Nash’s protests that he had a vasectomy, so it couldn’t be his. I actually have two credible sources for this one: the little devil on my shoulder, and the voice in my head known around here as escape goat.

I am certainly no fan of this type of rumor-mongering on player’s personal lives (trades and signings are one thing, this is something else entirely) but the fact that a radio station in Dallas was talking about it is news…the news being that they were big enough assholes to discuss something like this on the air.

Sounds like rumor
By some station desperate to create scandal, which they obviously failed at.
Suns players don’t do this sort of stuff. If they do, Grant Hill goes “man-mode” on them as a punishment. That’s why the Suns are so classy.

this has too much awsome modness not to rec

Wow, I left out a bunch of "a"s
It should be “Sounds like a rumor” and “By some station desperate to create a scandal”.
Ha.
Suns players don’t do this sort of stuff.
I’m almost certain this is wrong. That’s why I don’t ever want to know anything about a professional athlete’s personal life.

Exactly what I meant
There might be a few exceptions, but for the majority of the players, they don’t do this stuff.
I bet Mark Cuban leaked this rumor.
Still pissed about giving Dampier all that money while Nash won two MVPs.
