Suns Vs. Rockets Game Recap: Carter, Warrick Lead Suns past Rockets 113-110

Ap-c8f0fc5fc4d14e16bff7d62d0d91538e_mediumWhat a game! I tell ya these Rockets always give the Suns a good fight; one of the best match ups in the league!

With no Channing, no Pietrus in a must win game someone had to step up. Hakim Warrick decided he'd be that guy. We knew this was a team he could dominate, but who could know he'd play this well? How many thought he'd have a career high of 32 points? I certainly wasn't expecting that. Warrick wasn't a lone though. There was another player who helped carry the Suns tonight and his name is Vince Carter aka Half-Man, Half-Amazing!

It was Vince who hit timely three after timely three to keep the Suns in the game and the pressure on the Rockets. It was his energy, passion and aggressiveness that brought the Suns back into the game after being down by 11 in the 2nd Quarter. Surprised? After the OKC game, perhaps not, but the fact that he was the one to put this team on his back, lead them out of a double digit deficit and take control in the clutch was at least surprising to me. He showed a lot of heart tonight and deserves much props for his amazing play. Thank you Carter and thank you Warrick!

Star-divide

The Breakdown

Suns got off to a sloppy start. They turned the ball over, couldn't make a jumper or control their emotions which led to a Pietrus ejection. Not the way any of us wanted it to begin. This was the Suns home-court and they should have came out strong and set the tone early on. Unfortunately, the Rockets made them pay and took an 11 point lead with just 2 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. Things looked liked they'd only get worse until Carter entered the court. Immediately he attacks the basket, misses, but follows it with a put-back after getting 3 rocket players in the air. You can tell with his body language that he wanted to win. His teammates could too and followed his example. It's amazing how one play can change a game, but that was the turning point. That one play led to two defensive stops on the other end followed by two 3-pointers from Grant Hill and Vince himself. Suns cut the lead to 48-50 going into halftime.

From there on the game went back and forth with neither team able to gain any separation. It could have gone either way, but like I said Carter took control and hit many key shots and the Suns eventually found themselves up by 5 with 23 seconds to go. Kyle Lowry knocked down a 3, Nash got fouled, missed a free throw and Brad Miller air-balled a three to give the Suns a 113-110 victory thanks to the defense of Jared Dudley which forced Lowry to give up the ball.

Looking back at those Match-ups

Nash vs. Lowry-  Nash had 9 and 14. Those are reasonable stats considering he's playing through injury, but Lowry really lit him up. 32 points on 11-18 shooting including 7-11 on threes. That guy is one tough dude, got to give him props.

Brooks vs. Dragic- Not the "Ultimate Showdown" I was hoping for. Neither got much playing time, but it's safe to say that Goran won it. Neither could buy a shot, but Dragic was more aggressive attacking the lane as he hit 6-8 free throws. I'm going to call this one a gimme on Brooks; 0-6 shooting? Yikes!

Gortat and Warrick vs. Hayes, Miller and Patterson-  Seriously, the Suns always seem to wake up somebody. Who the crap is Patrick Patterson? Well, he had 18 and 5 tonight on 9-12 shooting. He, Miller and Hayes combined for 32 and 23. Gortat and Warrick more than held their own against them though. Marcin picked up 16 boards and 13 points with Hakim Warrick putting in a career high 32 points including 8 rebounds. 45, 24, yup the Suns front line won this match-up.

Vince Carter and Grant Hill vs. Kevin Martin and Chase Budinger-  Vince finished with 32 points on 13-17 shooting including 5-7 from downtown. Grant was amazing himself though. It wasn't just his 19 points on 5-8 from the field, but his lock-down defense on Kevin Martin who scored 17 on 5-16 shooting. Suns won this one easily.

Conclusion

It was a really entertaining game. Wish I could have been there. The duo of Warrick and VC were really entertaining getting a lot of fans off there seats with all those dunks and threes and what not. They really stepped up and played like men tonight in place of Channing Frye and Mickael Pietrus. Gortat and Hill brought there A game as well and Nash did the best he could. This was a must win at home and probably the most important game of the season thus far and the Suns took care of business. Bring on Denver!

...early second-quarter ejection of Mickael Pietrus who received a first technical foul after arguing a call. He continued to argue with the official and reportedly used foul language which got him tossed him from the game. His coach was not happy.

"I was a little bit disappointed in that. We're a little bit short-handed and obviously we need him. It's something that we'll talk about tomorrow," Gentry said about Pietrus' poor self-control.

Game Notes

1st Qtr

  • As expected, Grant Hill is defending Kevin Martin
  • Vince gets doubled in the post, makes a great pass to Warrick who can't extend his arm enough to catch it. Raise your arm, Hak!
  • Whoa...I think Warrick is still in the air
  • Robin looks like poo-poo again
  • Come on, Robin. Stop making me look silly by pumping you up all the time
  • 12-6, Rox. They're hitting three's.
  • Warrick with 6 of Suns 8. Hit two mid-range shots which is good. Gortat coming in after Robin's 2nd foul
  • Suns letting Vince create a little more these days thanks probably to Nash's "pelvic" injury
  • 10 for Hak. Steve finding him...but let's not forget that the Rockets are a poor defensive team
  • Lowry going right at Brooks. AB digging in on defense like Kyle is trying to steal his cookies
  • 26-24, Rockets. Warrick 14 points, 6 rebounds

2nd Qtr

  • Great big hand for Dragic as he comes in
  • Dragic gets the steal on Brooks and gets fouled...let's see if he can hit some FTs. 1-2
  • Chill coming in for Hak
  • MP tossed for arguing. Dumb ass...he got the first T and then wouldn't let it go
  • Goran getting the better of Brooks so far. Rox up 36-26, 8:54
  • Nash vs Goran...Goran steals the bounce pass and streaks down the court and has a nice behind the back pass to a trailer for a dunk. Sweet
  • Goran's a bit too aggressive w/ his shot but defended well and as always, was great in the open court
  • Nash trying to go for a tip dunk had to be the lol-est thing I've seen since...well, at least in the last hour
  • Nice work by Vince in the paint on that one. Showed some stones
  • Defense picking up a bit
  • Threes by Hill and Vince..some nice high/low passing from Gortat to Warrick
  • 50-48. Suns did well to stay in this thing....

3rd Qtr

  • 11 turnovers in the 1st half
  • OK, Robin. It would be a good time to get happy...or mad. Just play better.
  • Thank you
  • Grant Hill in the post = happy me
  • I feel like VC has been humbled a bit and now is starting to find a nice place on this team
  • Jordan Hill looks horrible. This guy was the 9th pick
  • Suns taking advantage of Rockets switch by running Nash/Hill pick and roll and then going to Hill in the post
  • Brad Miller can't defend Warrick. Go back to that again...and again
  • Gentry T'd by Ken Mauer. Pretty sure he was arguing for a non-call on Warrick's dunk attempt
  • Sarver was up during the time out yelling at the refs as well...then he walked off before he got T'd up too
  • Vince going into 1999 mode
  • And turns the ball over b/c it's not 1999
  • Nash back in early....so, Brooks???
  • Vince back in...quick rest for him
  • 95-92, 5:46. Should be interesting to see where Suns get points
  • 5th foul on Warrick...who is his back up?
  • 18 points for Patrick Patterson
  • 28 for Warrick
  • 101-98, 2:26
  • Vince again! He's getting it done...32 points
  • Inbound lob dunk to Warrick! Wow, that was sweet
  • 106-100. 1:30
  • Lowry scores, Warrick answers w/ a mid-range J
  • Big three from Lowry. He's a ballin
  • Huge steal by Grant after Gortat miss up 108-105. Nash fouled w/ 24 sec left...Nash passed up a shot himself to dish to Gortat for a 15ft J. That tells you all you need to know about Nash's health
  • Phew

I was totally worried when Frye went out...

i thought we could still make the playoffs, but Nash and Hill would wear their legs off down to the knees…
MAYBE (a big maybe) this will turn out to be a blessing in disguise, and Hak can grow in to WARMACHINE once again!!

Channing Frye would NEVER catch flying french fries with his left hand!

by Will Slaven on Mar 10, 2011 2:05 AM MST up reply actions

Channing said things happen for a reason

Maybe Pietrus got ejected so Warrick and Carter can get the ball more instead of him chucking them even when he’s not open. Maybe Channing got injured so players that haven’t played coughchildresscough can get playing time just in case something bad happens in the playoffs. With Channing gone this will be a better team in the end now that they’ll get used to different rotations. I just hope he stays clutch during his mini vacation. I don’t want to see the same Frye shooting brick 3 pointers shot after shot earlier in the season.

With that said, what an awesome game! I totally forgot what it’s like for both Warrick and Carter to have a good game. Warrick has definitely improved his jump shots. I wonder what both owners were thinking watching Goran and Brooks play. Rockets were probably like “oh well at least we got a pick”. I’m curious to see the Denver game but I’m not gonna have high hopes.

There's a different way to look at it.

After Robin’s first year, many of us thought he was a bust. Last year, he came out and showed us signs of promise and potential. Now he’s regressed and isn’t quite what he was last season. If you want, you can just keep seeing him as a bust and be like “Oh that’s cool” when he does something good. Then after that, go back to looking down upon him.

That’s not how I think of Robin, but that’s one way you can look at Lopez.

Here in Phoenix, we have the YUMS: Young Unorthodox Medical Staff

by NashMV3 on Mar 9, 2011 1:17 AM MST up reply actions

That's how I look at it.

I mean he’s done some good things but I wouldn’t call them amazing. For example, it’s completely understandable seeing people upset with Goran because of his performance from last year’s playoff compare to this season. It’s actually better to just see Lopez as a below average player so you don’t get high hopes. My dad dislikes him with a passion and facepalms everytime he sees him play. He loves Gortat though and jokes about his big nose saying he could get an offensive foul with it haha.

Warrick was awesome!

He played like the Amare-lite replacement I hoped he would be…and definitely came through when we needed him the most! I hope he continues to get big minutes and improve his game. Those jump-shots are really coming along!

As for Patrick Patterson…Well, I have a feeling he’s just getting started. I don’t think it was our guys that made him look good at all. This guy was one of the biggest unsung heroes of that uber-talented Kentucky team last season along with Wall and Cousins. He was a favorite of mine for sure, and I am not at all surprised by his play tonight. He got off to a rocky start, but seems to be coming along nicely. I expect we will be hearing much more about him in the near future.

Yeah, he's a very good player who continues to work on his game.

He and Jodie Meeks (who has also been playing well this year) brought there UK squad to Omaha in the NIT a couple years ago, and I got to see Meeks tear my heart out with a game-winner. But back then, Patterson played more of a mid-range and in game. Then Cousins arrived on campus and Patterson expanded his range beyond the 3PT line. He seems like the kind of guy that will do anything a team asks of him.

I’m no pro, but his form looks rather stiff and awkward to me, and a lot of times it seems like there’s very little arc, and I’m always half expecting that it’ll just go straight into the iron and back. Same with his FT shooting…but maybe it’s just that darned blinding orange arm-wrap!

Gotta admit...

…that I still freeze up with fear every time the War-man takes that shot. And maybe I’m biased, but it still doesn’t look pretty—it seems like there’s almost no arc to it, and maybe that crazy-bright ORNG arm-wrap just accentuates the apparent lack of bend in his arm too. It seems like half-a-miracle that it goes in at all, nevermind at a 75% or so clip…but I’m awfully glad they went in, regardless of whatever laws of physics they broke to make it there!

My bizarre motivational techniques with Vince seem to have worked

All kidding aside – he was fantastic tonight. Hakim too…obviously. If the Suns are going to stay afloat with Frye out they’ll need people stepping up like that (well not all the way like that….that was great).

Aaron Brooks looked lost tonight and Alvin Gentry’s technical foul was stupid and poorly timed.

We needed to win and we won. On to the next.

Hak proves me wrong...

I was lobbying yesterday for Chill to start saying he’ll have a better impact than Hak – now i’m glad Gentry didnt listen to me..LOL…32 and 8 wow, now if only he can maintain even just 16 and 8 w’ll be OK without Frye

Having said that i’m still hoping for Chill to get some substantial minutes. I think the four starters (Nash-Hill-VC-Hak) logged too many minutes though you cant really fault Gentry with MP ejected and Brooks playing bad. But you gotta start thinking if Nash and Hill can keep this up every game and still enter the playoffs in tiptop shape (yup i’m still optimistic we get in Frye or no Frye).

I believe the person who started this blog went on to become a Suns.com writer

which they aren’t bad. They’ve written some very interesting articles that I link to now and then in previews.

As for NBA.com, well them, ESPN, yahoo… are all the same when it comes to game recaps and previews. They’ll just lay out the facts and tell ya what happened and that’s all their suppose to do. It can get boring reading them, but that’s why we have blogs where writers can show their emotion, personality and homerism:)

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Two things I noticed tonight with Vince

One was that he seemed to sense that Brooks was losing composure, so he took it on himself to take control and show some good floor leadership.

Two was that as hot as Vince was, Gentry rested him a few minutes in the fourth so he wasn’t completely blown down the stretch like when he missed the free throws in OKC. Good coaching, coach.

As one of Vince’s few defenders these last few weeks, tonight was a very gratifying game for me.

Its been a while since we’ve had one of these kind of offensively dominant performances, and it was amazing to get 2 of them, from the 2 most maligned guys on the squad..

And though we can’t expect anything like this on a regular basis from Hak and VC, it sure bodes well for how strong we could be, with Frye back and with a little rest for Nash and Hill.

some things about Dragic

The heart on his sleeve hasn’t gone anywhere. He has a special essence about him that makes you wonder just how good he can be. On the other hand, his undisguised emotion is a problem when he’s struggling. When he plays with fire, it’s the heat of the dragon; when he’s struggling or cold, its like the carrot on frosty’s nose. Tonight, after he couldn’t really get going, he lost the intensity he came in with. I still think he is has some potential to be a great player, but for the time being he is just a special player.

Channing Frye would NEVER catch flying french fries with his left hand!

+2. Well said, Will.

Dragic will indeed hold a special place in all Suns fans’ hearts. We were around when he was drafted, when we labeled him a bust, when he burst out of his shell and exploded in the playoffs, and when he regressed this season and made us all unhappy. The kid is humble and likable.

But most of all, he’s shown signs that he can be a great player. He’s got range, craftiness, and a good work ethic. Did you see that spin move on Tony Parker? Even Steve Nash couldn’t do that. Anyways, those are ingredients to success for a PG, no? It’s been his shaky confidence that’s ruining everything. He may yet turn out to be that great player we envisioned, but for now he’s a perennial good role player. And he has room for improvement. Darko took 7-8 seasons to start coming into his own. I hope Goran doesn’t follow that example.

I managed to finish my paper and am wiped out. That’s it for now,

Just by watching his highlights from the preview of the game

if I don’t know Dragic and I watched that video, I will definitely think that oh my, is this kid a superstar? Man, he is good. Its just all about confidence now. He is struggling. We would all want Dragic to succeed. But no one would ever help him but himself. I want him to be the Dragon again. That everytime he comes and play, people get scared because the Dragon is unleashed. He needs to play like himself again. The aggressive, the fearless, the fly like a Dragon type of player. We don’t know what’s really happening in him now, but we gotta know that he already got the talent, he just needs to put it on the floor every night and he has to find a way to sustain the confidence or whatever thingy that will put him on the top. So a +3 . Well said, Will.

Man what an incredible game!

This game was just great. Like Alvin Gentry said, great for the fans, at least, maybe not that great for the coaches.

Vince finally decided to play with heart once and it really showed up – you could really see that with the naked eye, you don’t need to be an “analyst” like cough Jon Barry cough to see it. Hit shot looked consistently CORRECT and solid as in the past. Remember I said that clutch three pointer at the end of regulation vs. OKC looked close to 100% to his shooting technique? Tonight, his shot looked like HIS shot that he’s always had. And consistently. It wasn’t like a fluke.

Why? Swagger and ball in hand. Nash played a bit more off-ball and gave him the ball more. And, like I said, he’s an on-ball player. And it’s going to sounds weird, but when you have the ball, in your mind you prepare for a shot say 2-3 seconds before you shoot it – you have the time, as you dribble, to “feel” the weight of the ball and calibrate the shot mentally.

That’s the biggest difference between dribbling and having the ball in hand for a while and then taking the shots vs. being an off-ball, out of screens catch and shoot shooter (like Ray Allen). He’s much better with the ball in hand as a shooter.

And then, if you close him, he can pass precisely over the whole length of the court in the corner or he can play the pick and roll with Marcin (since Marcin does a much superior job of actually rolling to the basket than Robin does).

This was the first game that I didn’t feel any mental limitations from him since I can’t remember when. If there was any limitation, it was his age and lack of athleticism, but he wasn’t that fast in the past either. He had this “swagger” mentality instead, in the past, the he bought vs. the Rockets in this game. That’s the BIG difference. He can do it all well with being less athletic, but he’s a role player without that swagger.

And Hakim was smoking hot (basketball-wise, of course) today as well. They dared him to shoot and he delivered again and again. And then when they closed on him, he dunked in their faces. Now that’s what you like to see from a guy signed to “replace” Amare.

PS. Is it just me, or did Pietrus say to the referee “why don’t you eject me?”. Not say, but he showed the ref that signal of ejection before he was, well, ejected.

Random thoughts

Rockets
45.9% shooting
42.1% from 3
36 total rebounds

Suns
54.% shooting
53.8% from 3
41 rebounds

Those are the stats from nba.com. Usually when I see stats like that I think blow out, or at least 10 point win.

The big differnece in this game was turnovers. (OK. the reffering was not great, but not the game changer except for Pietrus and I blame him for that) Suns had 17 turnovers.

And the Bright Side … drummmmmm role..

It is completely fixable with practice, health and chemistry. The addition of Warrick into the starting line up creates new dynmaics and requires adjustments by team. One I noticed was the passing between the bigs was off sync.

I got to had it to Gentry (and Steve/Grant), he has pulled together a team from NBA bench and beyond.

Haven't seen the game but

just a 3 point difference while Scola not playing due to injury? And Brooks, Pietrus & Dudley (!) with ZERO points. Ouch.
Guess we were lucky to squeeze out a win.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t wanna rain on our parade but like Greyhound pointed out: the stats above indicate a blow out.
We need every player to contribute in the remaining games if we want to grab a playoff spot. More so since Channing is out for at least two weeks.
Anyway, a win is a win.

Pietrus getting ejected in a kinda silly way probably didn't help

Just wondering, though—does anything know why he got the 1st tech at all? Was it also for arguing? (I was watching the game at a commercial establishment without sound, so I just saw them replaying the play several times, and I didn’t see anything that was tech or flagrant-worthy…)

by tameszu on Mar 9, 2011 2:24 PM MST up reply actions

It was for arguing, and then Pietrus was like "why don't you throw me out, ref?"

So the ref was like “yeah, that’s a good idea”. If you look at the ref’s face, you can clearly translate this ^ exact thing.

by Raptorel on Mar 9, 2011 4:00 PM MST up reply actions

Yes, that's right so let me put it another way:

We were lucky that Scola was out in the first place. Who knows how the game would have ended if Scola had played. He can be a game changer.
I’m just worried that we’ll lose crucial games in the last stretch of this season without Frye while Steve is hurting. But that’s just the pessimist in me.
We need everyone to step up! Good thing is that VC and Warrick came to play.

P.S.: Odakle si hajdukovac? ;-)

i didn't see the game

but vince gets way too much hate, and hak is inconsistent . one really good game, and then he’ll go 4-2-1 next game. a grind out win against a team that’s behind us standings wise, is not a good sign. but like 2 years ago when we didn’t make the playoffs, i had hope till the very end.

by the way, i’ve been reading post/comments on this website for about year and finally made an account to comment too. this site must have the best comments i’ve seen, they’re better than the recaps at times. the whole DiM “thing” when goran got traded was funny, how everyone was giving her special attention due to her being female. i doubt if a dude was crying about dragic and making ridiculous fan post about how she misses him but will move on. it was like she was trying to be so poetic with each sentence, i loved it LOL. and then the questions about her changing her name or not, and then her dramatic responses to such questions were funny LOL.

He still lives and dies by his shot nowadays, that's the problem I see

If his shot is good for that particular day, he’s going to rule. If his shot doesn’t fall, then he has little chance of going to the free throw line or penetrating. The key with that is to start him in the post (going to him there) and go with isolations and pick and rolls. That kind of forces him to go to the basket and also puts him in a favorable position of doing that.

If he can’t do it, he can always pass out of the PnR.

by Raptorel on Mar 9, 2011 10:37 AM MST up reply actions

He actually drives a reasonable amount

But for whatever reason—maybe it’s because he’s not as explosive as he used to be, or maybe it’s something about the system that I’m missing—he tends to ultimately finish at the rim pretty rarely, and instead opts for a kinda sketchy fadeaway that seems to rim out a fair amount of the time. Perhaps its fuzziness of memory, but my recollection is that when he was in Toronto, those drives might’ve ended up with dunks or shots right at the rim more frequently.

Hak was a monster last night

Nice to see how deep this bench is, even without Frye someone can step up and ball like that.

And as one of the few people on here who doesn’t want to light Carter on fire, I’m glad to see him have two big games in a row, now he just needs to consistently be a guy who can put up around 20 points a game. And like mentioned above, it was like the 1999 half man half amazing switch flipped back on for him when he saw that Brooks was struggling and then he took over the game along with Hak to help us get a win.

And the Refs still suck.

Brooks trade

This is probably out of place, because most of you seem to be drinking the Kool-Aid, but the Rockets fans have to be smirking at how they fleeced us. They gave us a guy they didn’t want, and we gave them a guy with upside (Goran), and a first round pick. If this is this year’s pick, and we do not make the playoffs, the Rockets will get two lottery shots.

Oh, and Lowry with 32? Why didn’t we get him instead? I wanted to draft him a few years back.

The pick is lottery protected.

If we don’t make the playoffs, we give them the Orlando pick. As for Dragic’s vaunted “upside” advantage over Brooks, there’s only 16 months of difference in their ages.

by East Bay Ray on Mar 9, 2011 9:52 AM MST up reply actions

Age is only one consideration

Goran is smart – not a gunner. He never stifled the offfensive flow, whereas Brooks acquired quite a rep as an offensive flow-killer.

As far as your use of the word, vaunted, that word is usually used to describe a player who everyone says is going to be great, but the player never produces. The whole reason the Spurs are doing what they are this year is the embarrassment we put on them in the playoffs. While it was a team effort, I doubt anyone – players, fans, GMs – will ever forget what he did in that fourth quarter.

by Hawk42 on Mar 9, 2011 10:46 AM MST up reply actions

I don't really know what did it.

Ginobili and Parker have taken over the team from Duncan in production. That’s the biggest change I seee. But, what do you mean that they “rethought everything”? And, would that not have happened had we taken 6 games to beat them? Or if they had beaten us and then lost to the Lakers in the WCF?

This conversation started off about Goran Dragic and, if I read you correctly, you credit Goran’s amazing 4th quarter of game 3 of the WC semis with leading to the Spurs “rethinking everything” and “the whole reason they are doing what they’re doing this year”. That seems like an exaggeration to me.

"How do you know I wasn't bragging, numbnuts?"
~Steve Nash

by East Bay Ray on Mar 9, 2011 10:58 AM MST up reply actions

No of course not

But it was part of it. Do you think an Amare/Nash led Suns team would sweep this year’s Spurs? Didn’t think so. I saw their faces. They were EMBARRASSED. And unlike most teams, they took the initiative to do something about it. Not by panicking with trades and free agents like the Suns have done. But by tweaking what they have, and playing like a TEAM. Of course Goran’s quarter wasn’t what did it. But it was the climax of everything that went wrong for San Antonio last year.

And Seth, I respectfully disagree that that quarter was a fluke. The kid has talent. The key is for some coach to light that fire more often that Gentry lit. Basketball is so much mental. That’s why Walter Davis and Michael Jordan had different success as pros. One is laid back, the other burned with determination. Physically and talent wise, they were very close.

Dragic has the physical talents to be an all star. He probably will never be one unless he lands with the right coach, maybe achuck daly. That’s all I’m saying.

As for Goran….eye roll on his tremendous upside. Guess I’ll be the one to say it – dude is never going to be a good starter in the NBA. Sitting behind Nash was one thing, now he’s sitting behind a point guard that is younger than him (again…Goran isn’t 19 as some people have convinced themselves he is).

Does that mean I’m ecstatic about giving up a first round pick if Brooks is going to continue to drop turds like last night? Certainly not.

And the strange conflict of interest that happens...

When that former agent trades for a player that he signed (Hedo) or decides to cut a fading World Series hero because he isn’t worth the price (Gonzo), that the former agent negotiated in the first place.

It makes perfect sense for an owner to hire an agent in management because they are already trained to crunch numbers and are the perfect yes men.

Where does one start to become a player agent? It seems like there are no qualifications. Lebron James simply made his homie from high school an agent.

This guy has higher career averages in points, rebounding, and FG percentage than either of these two but he still can’t get sufficient playing time. I remember in a recent blowout against the bucks Gentry played Silo and Dowdell over Chilly (in garbage time). At the very least to boost his trade value to remind people what he brings to the table. i would like to see him come in for the last 2 minutes of the quarter for some afro powered turbo boost. So, I got pissed last night after the back to back Nash Turn overs and the easy Patterson dunks and said I'm not watching the game anymore....I totally lied.

Vince Carter was amazing last night…He did nothing wrong. Warrick, was an absolute beast. Honestly, some of those throw downs reminded me of STAT. I was really disappointed that Childress didn’t get more time but I suppose he will soon. I think the team can keep the ship a float till Frye returns. Finally, all of that depth we’ve acquired came in handy.

A few things that need to change are that Grant Hill is playing WAY too many minutes. Two, Robin Lopez really needs to open his eyes and get it together. Chuck Hayes is good but Lopez has height, weight, and length on him. Lastly, Steve Nash really needs to start shooting the rock. I know that Lowry is one of the better defensive guards in the league but Nash has beaten up people better than that a thousand times.

"Look, don't relax on Hakim Warrick, Josh Smith. He'll put it on your face in a hurry."-Eddie Johnson aka Best. Commentator. Ever.

I agree Grant is playing too much, but it appears he was doing so well against Martin as well as giving you some points, and Peaches got ejected and Dudz didn’t do much. Grant and VC were the only 2 wings that showed up to play, and so play they did. It’s tough thinking about the future while trying to win in the now.

Robin does need to get his stuff together. I’m a FroLo apologist, but we really need him to give us something consistently. That being said, Chuck Hayes does that kind of thing to a lot of quality bigs. That’s why he’s still on a team despite being shorter than some guards.

Haven’t you heard? Steve is rolling with a bad groin. I’m impressed that he’s still managing to rack up double-figure assists every game even though he can’t make a shot to save his life. Hopefully he heals up soon and can get back on track. We certainly need him to be at his best to survive.
