So we need a frontcourt player, and since I've drastically lowered my estimate of Robin Lopez potential this season, we ought to be looking at the free agents.
Following is a list of free agent big men who are either notable, or else I thought they'd be a good fit here:
Troy Murphy - His nose is the matching bookend to Gortats! Oh and he can shoot and rebound and stuff too.
Kurt Thomas - who dudn't love ol' crazy eyez? great rebounder and defender despite a lack of athleticism, smart as hell, good in the locker room - basically the anti-Warrick
Tyson Chandler - Elite defender and a good finisher around the rim. Dallas will overpay him, though.
Josh McRoberts - athletic, runs the court, rebounds, and can hit the long shot.
Zach Randolph - should stay in Memphis, as it's the first place he's ever fit in
David West - would put us back in the playoffs, if we could afford him, which we probably can't
Shelden Williams - showed he could ball by outplaying Nene in Denver for several months before he was traded to NY and didn't make D'Antoni's short rotation.
Greg Oden - an elite center! for 20 games a year!
Samuel Dalembert - He's huge and athletic, a good post-defender and rebounder, can create space on offense for his teammates by setting some of the biggest screens in existence, and finishes at the rim reasonably well. Injuries are a concern.
Reggie Evans - has been voted dirtiest player in the game by fellow NBA players for several years running. Could be the Yang to Grant Hill's Yen.
Andrei Kirilenko - was an all-star at the PF position before Jerry Sloan moved him to SF.
So... who's it gonna be?
