NBA Playoff Action Open Thread - Tuesday, April 19. Look at all the ex-Suns!
If you're a Suns fan who hates that our beloved team seems to let too many quality players go, tonight's NBA playoff games might be rough for you. Ex-Suns Amar'e Stoudemire, Joe Johnson, Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu, Earl Clark, Quentin Richardson, Earl Barron, Shawn Marion and Jason Kidd will all be participating in playoff action for other teams. I know this is a little depressing to consider; that's why I included the Earls on the list for comic relief. Also, you can watch Josh Smith and fantasize about how good he'd look in purple and orange.
Tonight's action:
New York at Boston, TNT, 4PM PDT. Celtics lead series 1-0.
Atlanta at Orlando, NBA TV, 4:30PM PDT. Hawks lead series 1-0.
Portland at Dallas, TNT, 6:30PM PDT. Mavericks lead series 1-0.
GO!
Update: As Fritzy notes below, I neglected to mention that Shaquille O'Neal is a former Sun, too. Apparently, I've conveniently deleted memories of that ever happening, and I prefer to keep it that way.

as shaq is heard clearing his throat loudly in the background
“hey guys, remember when I was a sun?”
How could I forget Shaq as a Sun?
Oh yeah, that’s how.

And Boston has former Suns great Sasha Pavlovic
While Atlanta has a guy who looks EXACTLY like Jarron Collins.

Shaq doesn't count
He’s injured and has not played in the playoffs. So as a direct result, his team is of course up 2-0.
But where’s the love for Kurt Thomas, Eddie House, James Jones, Antonio McDyess, and of course, former Suns fave Matt Barnes (Half Man – Half Tattoo Ink)?
New York, the other Planet Orange.
My bad
Didn’t read it closely enough.
Sorry EBR

No problem. I'm not sure I really had a defined point.
Just rattled off all the former Suns players I could think of that were playing last night. Good knowledge on those ones you mentioned. McDyess on the Suns seems like a lifetime ago.

josh smith
We should have drafted josh smith with the 16th pick in the 2004 draft instead of giving the pick away. He was drafted 17th
You know what's a fun game?
Trying to predict what an actual game score is based on Adrian Wojo’s twitter. The way that dude tweets you think teams are down like 65 when they are down 7.

At least he was mentioned

Amar'e questionable to return with back spasms?
I just cannot see that dude sitting out half of a crucial playoff game unless he’s in traction.

So how many people want to see
the team that has that guy that used to play for Phoenix to win?
I rock so get used to it.
Why? Don't you feel betrayed?
I rock so get used to it.

No. Hate the Celtics way too much to even care.
To the asshat that hit me: thanks for the broken arm. ...Fucker.
Unless I'm missing a player who had an extremely short time as a member of the Suns
Indiana, Memphis, and Denver are the only teams who don’t have a former Sun.
Re-sign BAMF.
I guess we could give the grizz an affiliation
By way of lionel hollins,Always thought lonel should have had a chance to coach the suns,Shame on westy for running him and scottie robertson off trying to cover his own ass.

Lol. So if the Knicks make it to the second round do you want them to win?
I rock so get used to it.
Couldn't care less.
As long as it’s not Boston. Or the Heat.
To the asshat that hit me: thanks for the broken arm. ...Fucker.
I can't argue with the choice Amare made.
The difference in guaranteed money between the Suns and Knicks offer was $30M-$40M. Even if you’re already filthy rich, few would leave that kind of money on the table.
by East Bay Ray on Apr 19, 2011 5:46 PM MST up reply actions
Yah, but Phoenix was close to a title the first time.
Imagine if we got Gortat while Amare was still here. That would be an insane lineup. If Aamare wouldve stayed we wouldve came close to a title and eventuslly got one. But I guess thats not worth 30-40 million dollars.
I rock so get used to it.

Yeah, well we don't live in that universe.
To the asshat that hit me: thanks for the broken arm. ...Fucker.
Yikes, Amar'e is dealing with back spasms.
I know he’s only 28, but is it possible that the wear and tear that comes from having to carry a crappy team as their only scorer and center while being undersized at that position has taken a toll on him?
Don't trade Dudley!
Dwight Howard shooting 7-9 from the field and 10-13 from the line.
The rest of the Magic are 9-33 from the field, including 1-13 from Hedo and J-Rich.
Wow, Carmelo is having a great game.
Not impressed with the 30 points because Amar’e is out, but the 30 points and 16 rebounds together is impressive no matter how bad your team is.
Don't trade Dudley!
He looks tired
He’s probably pissed that he’s all by himself with Chauncey and Amare out.
Twitter: @FredLegittt
Knicks owner wondering if it was worth giving Amare 100 million
He should just return him back to Phoenix. Amare still has his house here.
Twitter: @FredLegittt
Actually, Ama're was the best option for them since they lost out on Lebron and Wade.
Good thing they chose him over Bosh.
If anything the owner should be questioning the Carmelo trade. I really liked the trio of Felton, Gallinari and Chandler over Carmelo and 34 year old Billups. If they didn’t make that trade I bet they would have gotten around 45-49 wins.
Don't trade Dudley!
They def should have taken him on free agent.
Imagine Denver Nuggets with Amare….minus Lawson Nene and Affalo

Soo good game???
Am driving soo I can’t watch!!!
April 23rd!!!! April 23rd!!! My favorite doctor returns!!
So Rick Adelman's contract won't get retained.
I might consider him over Gentry.
Don't trade Dudley!
Our players are too stubborn...
Adelman and Gentry are too soft. Need some tuffness up in this piece.
"Who are we kidding?..."
We already tried that and it didn't work.
With Porter anyway. If it was someone with a stronger resume than maybe.
Don't trade Dudley!
harry porter?
I wasn’t aware we had a wizard as coach

Duh. Silly me.
To the asshat that hit me: thanks for the broken arm. ...Fucker.
Yeah. They'll be fine.
Next year they’ll get more players around Melo and Stoudemire to make up for what they lost to get Melo.

But will they be a contender by the time those ticking time bombs on Amare's legs explode?

He got double teamed, he gave the ball to their center...
Center makes a horrid pass. TO. Celtics win.
"Who are we kidding?..."
He had the right intentions, he just forgot KG (who has long arms) was guarding him.
Don't trade Dudley!
KG i freakin hate u!!!

Fake
He should have faked a pass and just dunked it but Jefferies doesn’t think about offense and KG knew it and played for the pass.
Anyone watching the Orlando game?
I’m watching the Dallas game.

I'm glad they finally changed that BBVA Compass commerical.
Half the players in it weren’t even on the same team they were showing them on anymore.
And they added Channing, Jared, and Steve celebrating his game winner at the very end! :)
by Dragic_is_Magic on Apr 19, 2011 6:57 PM MST reply actions
Hawks had narrowed it to a 78-76.
Then Hedo drove the lane for 2 and J-Rich hit a 3. 83-76 Magic with under 2 minutes left.
Just take all those players mentioned above
and put them on a Suns jersey.

I find it odd that I’m sort of leaning towards cheering for the Blazers.
by Dragic_is_Magic on Apr 19, 2011 7:38 PM MST up reply actions
I've always kind of liked the Blazers...
They despise the same teams as we do, and are quietly productive almost every year; yet somehow fly under the radar while everyone swoons over the Lakers and Spurs. I always root for them when the Suns aren’t playing.
by 7footer on Apr 19, 2011 7:47 PM MST via mobile up reply actions
I think we're in the minority here
But I agree with all that. Plus there’s no one on their team I really hate (although Andre Miller is close). I like LaMarcus Aldridge, Roy, Camby.
Re-sign BAMF.
I don't like the Blazers.
But I do feel myself cheering for them over the Mavericks.

One of us should make an early off-season post
These playoffs are hard to watch, we should just go do something we enjoy instead of watching these games, I just remembered someone that can replace Lopez if we decide to trade him, C-Spencer Hawes might come a little more expensive then Lopez but he has a better game then him too.
I'd rather play Earl Boykins at C right now rather than Lopez.
Ok, that’s a little harsh…But it would be fun to watch, no?
In all seriousness, I hope we don’t trade Lopez this season. He has one year left on his rookie contract and his trade value is almost nil. I’d rather just keep him as a back-up C for at least another year to see if he can turn it back around.
by 7footer on Apr 19, 2011 7:52 PM MST via mobile up reply actions
I give up watching the game.
Time for TV.
To the asshat that hit me: thanks for the broken arm. ...Fucker.
Did they really just shoehorn Mariano Rivera into a basketball game?

Shit, I had the hardest time even caring about the playoffs to this point
The playoffs have lost their luster
They look like teammates already!
