NBA Playoff Action Open Thread - Wednesday, April 20. Tasty Western Conference Matchups.
Will Chris Paul and the Hornets bring a smile to our faces like they did Sunday? Will Marc Gasol continue to make the trade that delivered his brother to the Lakers and him to the Grizzlies look less and less lopsided? Will Pau Gasol further that same argument with another lackluster performance? Will the Nuggets keep their composure late in the game against the Thunder, even if they get robbed by an awful non-call on a blatant goaltend?
We'll find out tonight.
Other notes:
Arron Afflalo will not return tonight for the Nuggets, and there is no specific timetable for when he will return, according to the Denver Post. Afflalo aggravated a hamstring injury in an April 11th game against the Warriors and has not played since.
Manu Ginobili (AKA Baldy McFlopperson, props to 2NASHTY) is questionable and will be a game-time decision for the Spurs, who are preparing as if Ginobili won't play. Ginobili sprained his elbow in the season finale against the Suns when the Spurs played all their stars since they were still bitter about the Suns sweeping them out of the playoffs last year trying to clinch the best record in the league and home-court advantage for a potential Finals matchup with the Bulls.
On tap:
Denver at Oklahoma City, 5PM PDT, TNT. Thunder lead series 1-0
Memphis at San Antonio, 5:30PM PDT, NBA TV. Grizzlies lead series 1-0.
New Orleans at LA Lakers, 7:30PM PDT, TNT. Hornets lead series 1-0.
GO!

Was wondering why there wasn't an open thread on the main page...
It was hiding.
To the asshat that hit me: thanks for the broken arm. ...Fucker.
I'm rooting for OKC on this series although I like Denver too.
But damn…the refs did horrible on 1st half. I could probably think of 5 fouls that weren’t called. If the refs are paid to help OKC win, they sure are doing a great job making that obvious.
Let’s go Hornets!!

wrap your head around this
I heard a rumor that we are going after duncan in the off-season. Let the swearing begin.
I pictured Sun-Bear Lopez in a bear suit with his fro sticking out of the bear hood, towering over the headless Duncan snarling a-la wolverine while ol’ crazy eyes Hill just stares at him whispering "damn he’s crazy."

Getting a past his prime former all-time great would be soooooo Suns
But I would be just slack jaw shocked if Duncan ever left the Spurs. Ever.

Lover,Poet,Suns fan,All around damn good guy.

Hey
Brandon Roy’s bitching about playing time. Maybe we could trade VC and Lopez for him or something. And with Phoenix’s health trainers, Roy would be back to normal. Great player, and I’d like to see him in a Suns uniform. We get him and Paul Millsap/Josh Smith and we’re good to go next year. Anyone else with me?

I know the suns trainers r gods..,
But I don’t think they can regrow knees…I don’t think that’s a good idea IMO

Exactly. He's owed $48 over the next 3 seasons.
And his knees are shot.
Gotta feel sorry for Roy, who says he will keep playing through the pain until he gets microfracture surgery. From the Oregonian: "There’s no meniscus left to operate on in Roy’s left knee. ‘Nah. None. Not in my right, either,’ Roy said Friday. The reason Roy’s knee has been swelling up regularly, to the point where it has already been drained twice by Blazers‘ doctor Don Roberts this season, is because there is no cartilage to absorb the pounding associated with running and jumping. ‘The problem is bone-on-bone there,’ Roy said. ‘Dr. Roberts calls it ‘arthritic knee.’ It’s just something I’m going to have to deal with for the rest of my career.’

That should be $48M.
I might roll the dice if it was only $48.

I was gonna say
I’ll gladly give him 48 buck to help the Suns

We might as well have just re-signed Amare if we wanted someone with knee issues
At least there’s a chance Amare keeps his knees.. Roy’s already lost them.
Re-sign BAMF.
Go Hornets!!! Beat them Lakers..
I know someone explain this to me already but I 4got.. Wtfrak is a Laker? What it sounds like??

I agree on Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
I quite enjoyed him in 500 Days of Summer.
Not sure if I’d want a pet chameleon, though. I don’t much care for animals.

Fill in the joke.
Former NBA player Oliver Miller was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with assault and numerous other crimes, after allegedly pistol whipping a man at a barbecue, Washington, DC, television station WUSA reports on its website.
No, former Sun Oliver Miller. He's a, uh, "full-figured" man.

Marv Albert's voice makes me want to punch a kitten.
Who’s that old white guy on ESPN. Looks like he has a snaggletooth.

Yeah, but Dallas has faltered before.
And Portland is a tough city to play in.
I think it would be a huge upset if it happened. But of all the possible options, I think it’s the most realistic.

Horneys would have OT this or beat the Lakers
IF THEY MADE THE FREE THROWS.
Gives me flashbacks of our game we could have won if we made our free throws. We could have finished at least .500

Also, I must have jinx Kobe earlier
Cause I posted this on my Twitter:
“Michael Jordan scored 63 points on 4/20/86. Kobe wants whatever Jordan was smoking that day.”
11 points 3 rebounds 2 assist and that’s with 3-10 FG, 0-2 behind the line, 5-8 from free throw, 2 TO, and 4 fouls in 35 minutes.

Jordan's choice of pot obviously didn't work for him haha.
