Tougher and Better Line up for the Suns?

Looking at our new draft of Markieff Morris, i am starting to wonder maybe we will have a tougher and better lineup for the next season( If we have a next season)

PG- Nash

SG- Dudley

SF - Frye

PF - Morris

C - Gortat

Morris as the PF will eventually add muscle and defense in our team, I regard Morris as a younger Kurt Thomas and a tougher Frye (where all of them can score 3-pointers)

Frye as the SF will free him more in the 3-point line and he should be the tallest SF, guarding most 6-8 SF with ease;-)

and Dudley is always hard working and should contribute more as SG in defense.

In the past Richardson as SG will contribute more on shooting, this time around maybe Dudley can get some of those rebounds and pass back to Nash for shooting instead

Anyway, i think we have a more complete squad this time (base on my own opinion ;P)

Unfortunately, height isn’t the only requirement for guarding SFs. Frye has a hard enough time defending PFs more than 10 feet from the rim. If put him on the wing fulltime as an SF, he’ll get torched by a hotdog on July 4th.

Definitely. Frye doesn't have the lateral quickness to keep up with any of the SF's in this league

And why does it seem like Hill isn’t mentioned in the starting lineup? I doubt there’re any players on the team at the moment who can beat him out of his starting job.

I wonder if Dudley is working on shooting out of a screen/curl type play like Richardson used to do. That’d be a great addition to his arsenal and a great way for the team to get better.

and it's sad

that our team doesn’t have anyone better than a 39 year old SF.

Yea, but I'm hoping Suns can make a move in the near future

Jeremy Lamb!! I’m going to be banging this drum until he’s drafted.

Yeah but that 39 old guy is...BAMF

Do not let Steve Nash and Grant Hill go away, please.

Yeah

I was thinking the same thing. Frye at SF would be no bueno.

by AcucracK on Jul 5, 2011 7:33 PM MST up reply actions

Alex is spot on

Unless we want to be the worst team defensively there is NO way Frye can play the 3.
Keep in mind Frye is 6-11 245lbs, and you would ask him to guard players that are around 6-8 215lbs. That’s like Nash trying to guard Yao in the post… not happening

wow

if you think channing frye will be guarding Durant, James, Melo, with ease, u must be smoking that good stuff. center- pf, dont make good wings typically. hes better off bulking up to centened with stronger pfs. hes already faster and a better shooter than most. also morris will not start.

I think

His idea is amazing!!! That way we have the greatest chance at next years #1 pick!
That’s what playing Fry at sf and Morris at pf means. Oh yeah and not upgrading the roster any further along with not playing grant hill.

by meeeh on Jul 6, 2011 12:16 AM MST reply actions

oh yeah. hahaha

I don't know what to put in my sig.

by shawndy on Jul 6, 2011 2:16 AM MST up reply actions

this idea is a wash

Frye already had difficulties guarding faster PFs ala Lamar Odom and now you’re saying he can guard SFs with ease

I don't know what to put in my sig.

Yeah pretty nonsense but still i finished it.

However we would be the best rebounder team on the league, not really Frye got no clue about rebounding, and also the one with more turnovers beacuse of steals.

If you want tougher

you can go out and get Reggie “Dirtiest Player in the Game” Evans. He’s a FA, and a terrific rebounder.

Assuming Morris is somehow a capable wing defender, this could work.

That’s a big assumption.

by waxmonkey on Jul 6, 2011 10:54 AM MST reply actions

If we play Zone Defense?;-)

Well, it is just an alternative idea, no harm discussing it:)

Assuming we play a Zone Defense with 3 Big Guys under the basket (6-11, 6-11 , 6-10)

This might work, the quicker SF must make shoot at long range with our 3 Big Guys line up beneath the basket..

We might as well put Josh Childreas as SG to slash the ball outside the D zone;-)

by Outsiders on Jul 6, 2011 5:14 PM MST reply actions

Zone does not work very well.

Too easy to figure out. Good passing → death of zone. This might work for stretches, but then we’d have the slowest PF on the floor. That means we’d be relying on a post-up game. No slashing and minimal ball movement. I can’t see that being the Suns’ style, especially with Nash at the helm.

Itd have to be zone.

Although man on man could work. With Channing Frye guarding the SF on the perimeter, the SF would laugh so hard that it would be impossible for him to make an effective offensive move.

I’ve been wondering if the lockout last the full season how would the draft order be determined? would we have the 13th pick again?

by marques m on Jul 6, 2011 7:02 PM MST reply actions

Possibly, but I don't think it would be the exact same.

My guess would be the lottery is conducted again with all the teams having the same number of ping pong balls, and then the draft goes according to the results.

That would be so ridiculously unfair. I really hope we don’t miss the season.

Unless we won the drawing

in which case it would be toally fair :-)

i thought i read somewhere

that if the nfl had a lockout it would go completely random. nba idk since its lottery based
