Miami Wants Grant Hill...
And part of me wants to send him over there. I mean think about it, we are talking about a player that above almost any other play still in the league today deserves a ring. He is a perennial all-star he has always represented the league in the best manner, and he continues to play well as an "old man".
However, I also have a huge loyalty to him and to see a player let alone a person like him go to "The EVIL Empire" hurts. The decision to move Grant Hill falls in the hands of Lon Babby and the Suns front office and of course Hill, who is an unrestricted free agent. A front office who has only guaranteed the security of one aging superstar in Steve Nash. So what does that mean for an aging small forward who's only dependable upside is his sheer determination to continue and compete.
Without Grant Hill I truly believe that this Phoenix Suns team will lose their way, without another solid leadership voice on the team who is level headed and has a large basketball I.Q. I think we will have no chance of gelling or going any further than last year.
With him we have the potential to become a respectable defensive team, add length to our line up, and above all else have a player that can lead the team when Steve Nash sits. I think we can all agree the backup point guard position is up in the air right now and that we don't have a solid bench PG that can keep the team on track when Nash is off the court.
The Heat have expressed interest in a number of players recently targeting Hill as one of the possible recruiting possibilities along with Battier, Prince and Micheal Redd.
What is frightening is that they have a really good calling card in the BIG TWO Lebron James and Dwyane Wade. With quality potential backup minutes to Lebron James and a good compliment to Dwyane Wade it will give the Heat much needed depth to their roster allowing them to throw more then just James and Wade at at team all game long.
Remember Hill was once considered the next Michael Jordan and at times showcases that killer instinct he once had as well as some impressive bouts of physical dominance.
So in all these fantasies of seeing Grant Hill win a championship I still want to be selfish and see him retire with us. So Miami...you can't have him, he is ours and we will honor his decision to retire whenever that may be. I only wish that we could have seen him play more in his prime.

I can't say that I would be ok seeing him go
But if he gets a chance at a ring, then he deserves that shot. But then, what’s keeping us from giving Nash that same chance.
Markers, scissors, crayons, pencils, folders, juice boxes, pretzel sticks, glue sticks, tape that sticks, and glitter. SO much glitter
Nash's contract and his commitment to the Suns organization is what's keeping him here.

Grant has a pretty strong commitment as well.

Grant said last season that he'd be back
he’ll be back if we take him back.
Crashing the [message] boards from Rome, Italy. Go Suns!
Considering how little we'd be paying him
we’d be fools not to re-sign him. He may be 38 going on 39 but he’s still a very capable player.
With his veteran leadership, strong locker room presence, great basketball IQ, strong defensive fundamentals, and a good all-around offensive game… tell me why we wouldn’t want him back.

I agree
I have always had a strong feeling that Grant would be better off retiring with the Suns, we are good fans, a good organization and we have fans that really respect the great players we get on our team. Not to mention I do think he is one of the top 20 Small Forwards in our league. That is big time when you are 38.

I just don’t see the Geriatric Duo splitting up yet.

This whole rumor stems from one source who wrote one sentence about it.
Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. Everybody else who reports it cites him.
If the Heat cannot sign preferred choices Shane Battier, Grant Hill or Tayshaun Prince postlockout, Miami will consider Michael Redd and Tracy McGrady, among others.
Maybe this guy has super Heat access, and got a scoop from an insider. But, even if what he reports is accurate, it still only puts Hill on a list of players the Heat might target, and Hill would still have to choose to leave Phoenix to sign with Miami.

You are right
The article that wrote about this is short, but it comes from a source close to Pat Riley and he is one of the few no nonsense people left in the NBA if I was to believe anyone would attempt to get Grant it would be Pat Riley.

So all this time
We’ve talked about our glut at the 3 spot…
And traded Hedo…
And passed Marcus Morris for Markieff…
And now we might lose Grant in free agency…
Remind me who are 3’s are going to be next season?

Dudley, Childress, Pietrus as of now with our current roster.

We really don’t have any, and this was a known issue going into the off season. It’s quite possible the front office may consider this crazy concept called signing free agents or trading players on our team to other teams for players who fill roles we need.
Since we are imagining Hill left us to go to another team, I would imagine we might exercise one of those options. Call me crazy I guess.

absolutly not!
if they give us d-wade or lebron then for sure. and with the humidity and PT staff in miami do u really think he will last? bad knees and Florida’s climate aint a good look.
I've said this before
But would a ring really “complete” Grant as a player? For me it doesn’t change anything as far as his accomplishments are concerned. He’s already written his story.
Every player wants a ring
If you think about it, a championship is the ultimate prize you can get in the NBA simply because it is a team sport and in order to win a championship you need more then one player. So yes it would “complete” Grant’s accolades and would be proof to himself that he is the great player that we all think he is…does he need it to retire and be considered one of the all time greats…HELL NO!

The other side to it is..
it is not a SURE thing that him going to Miami will get him a ring. Everyone is talking like he’s going to the guaranteed NBA champions, don’t get me wrong I’m not denying how good Miami are but come on now have we not learnt anything from professional sports in that it can be very unpredictable?? Ya’ll are talking like it’s a guarantee that Miami will win the next NBA title. Is it likely? Sure. But their are no guarantees in professional sports.
I don’t want him to go to Miami chasing that ring… only to fail like Gary Payton and Karl Malone when they went to the Lakers. I always wished that Gary and Karl stayed with their respective teams, even more so after seeing them fail.
So when the question is ‘does Miami deserve Grant Hill’ I say no because THIS Miami team hasn’t won anything yet, they haven’t earned the right to deserve anything.

Obey your thirst
If Grant Hill wanted to go to Miami i wouldn’t hold it against him. He was a tripple double machine before his injuries and has always been a upstanding person on and off the court. He is everthing that is great about the nba.
I wasn’t to keen on signing old man Hill a few years ago, i thought he would have broken down and retired by now, but to see him play over the last four years has truely been a highlight for me at least. I want Hill to stay a Sun and but if he wants to go then who am i to argue.
If he went to the Heat and they won a championship i don’t believe it would add or subtract to the Grant Hill legacy. A nice way to finish your career yes, but the way Hill has conducted himself over the years through the highs and lows, that will be his legacy.
well said
