Reflections on Suns - All Star recognition
Analyzing the early returns from all star voting one can see some interesting storylines emerging:
1. Nash is no longer seen as the premiere Highlight - Passer of the league - he got demoted by Ricky Rubio. As unfair and demented as it is, the kid might turn out to be the new Nash when it comes to League-wide recognition of explosive pass-first guards. He is already better positioned for all-star status than Rondo (above average defense, better shot, same passing skills) and challanges Nash (younger, more highlights).
2. Gortat gets some recognition - he is the 7th Center in voting league-wide which pretty much responds to his real value - I would rank him around 6-7 spot (behind the obvious - Howard, Gasol, Bynum, Bogut, probably behind Noah and Chandler and ahead of Nene, DeAndre and Horford for his all-around game).
3. The rest is silence.... - no other peaople on the list from the suns reflecting our struggle to get a third constant player on the squad. Hope Redd/Frye will get it done soon enough...

Can't really argue with the results thus far.
The Suns do not have anyone performing at an all-star level. The leading scorer is Gortat and he is only averaging 12 points! Nash has performed reasonable, but not close to the lofty standard he set for himself over year’s past. His assists are there, but the scoring is missing. Sad to say it, but I don’t expect anyone from the Suns roster to be clad in All-Star gear yet again this year.
