Phoenix Suns At Portland Trail Blazers Game Thread
Phoenix Suns at Portland Trail Blazers, Jan 27, 2012 8:00 PM MST
Will the Suns be able to get a much needed win in Portland tonight? Who knows...
This will be a tough game, but with an even tougher road ahead the Suns need to find a way to get themselves back on the right track fast or they risk slipping further into a state of limbo.
Let's go!

I know
Wallace foul was ideal – you can;t argue with that. The other one, on Aldridge was fine as well.
I grew up on Bad Boys Piston’s D – No layups EVAR!
Yeah Wallace one was fine
I agree no lay-ups but he had to foul in the first place. It is not easy to guard Aldridge but he was outmatched imo.

It was on a switch
2 quick fouls is bad, but context – neither was poor play, and the worse of the two put him in a bad position, so can’t get down on the rook for that.

Dudley shoot that!
Foul, but no need to pump fake when you ar alone. He looks scared to shoot the three.
Kenyon Martin would be a good signing
We need another proper 4/5.
there are 4 or 5 teams goin for him
and we are not one of them

Then we really could move Lopez.
He'd be a solid pick up.
But the signing would kill the flexibility the FO is trying to sell us on. So there’s not a great chance they’re going to make this move.

Wallace has beat up on switches
The Sun’s switch a LOT, so there is always a chance for physical guys to establish position and go hard.
I think Wallace is an ideal signing next year – him and Batum would be fine by me.

They both seem to get lost on defense
Both times the man they were responsible for ended up having a free lane to the basket

It's really hard to..
Because when you get it, the Government will tax the heck out of it so you won’t have it anymore…
Let's do this...!
The Chinese have an expression
@The Coin is round – today it rolls to me, tomorrow to you. @
I always liked that.
They may not know the expression..
But they’ll surely know the pain of bringing home diddly divided by squat.
Let's do this...!
Some chinese dude told me
But they tend to ham it up to white boys.
If it isn;t an expresion
It should be! Lets make it happen.
I'll spread it through my community of Asians
You do it through the community of White people. We’ll meet int he middle and make a delicious omelette.
My Nephews are half chinese
I’ll hity ’em nboth
On a funny note
My ex was Japanese, and her dad climbed Mount Fuji twice. I said, “Isn;t there an expression – a wise man climbs mount Fuji once – only a fool climbs it twice”.
What’s in your wallet?

I went to South Africa
Time of my life, and I’m going to Brazil as well.
My advice: buy tickets to round 1 and the round of 16 (4 tickets) then go home. Will set you back less than $5K – with airline tickets (if you need to, fly to Buenos Airies and trek over land).
There is a lottery for tickets, and if you pick an unsollowed team (like North Korea), you can get tickets REALLY easily.
Yes. My bff when to Germany.
She spend around 5k too.. She went to 3 games. But she’s a frugal soul. I hate being uncomfortable.. I really want to go to a Mexico & a USA game while there…

Easy to be frugal
Just eat local food, stay in backpackers (80% of which are lovely – do some research) and don’t move around (by air) too much.
Not very expensive even with a 400% markup.

Gentry is a bad coach and we have no scorers
Shit.

Gentry uses too many players
And over plays some players he shouldn’t – but he isn’t bad.
I actually like him...
But I think the chances of him being our coach much longer is going down quickly.
Let's do this...!

Can't get a good rotation
questionable plays, especially late game, I think he’s bad. He’s not meant to coach a bad team that can’t score for shit. He’s meant to be coaching a winning team with a good scorers. This team is terrible, worse than last year, worse than the Marbury years, but I doubt Gentry gives a shit.

but never trade Nash! and Gortat. and Hill. Those 3 are untouchables.
I don't know what to put in my sig.
Nash needs to score 20 a night
Passing is not what this team needs – we need Nash to shoot 3s off screens, and to force teams to step out on him.
Nash needs to average 20-25 a night from here on out.
is he even capable of that anymore?

Then he needs to change
Seriously, he needs to shoot more threes – it about the only play we can consistently score with.
Still better than anyone else on our team
And he always has the ball anyway. May as well shoot himself.

The WNBA is all about the game of basketball. No overblown hype, no despicable personalities, no outrageous amounts of money, no mugging halftime analysts, and no poisonous animosities. Just the finesse and effort of basketball. If that isn't interesting to people, then people just aren't interested in basketball.

Back to the beginning
Back to when the earth, the sun, the stars all aligned
‘Cause perfect didn’t feel so perfect

Let it wash away
My sanity

I wanna scream
Let the rain fall down
I’m coming clean, I’m coming clean

Camby had a pretty impressive game.
20 rebounds in 24 minutes. That’s quite a feat.
It’s not quite as good as 2 rebounds in 2 minutes, though, if you like advanced statistics.

I remember Dwight got suspended last season for that and Amare was close with like 14 or something

Technically,
you don’t get suspended for ejections, you get suspended for techs. I think it’s like 15 or 17 or something. Ask Rasheed Wallace.

Cardinals, Suns, D-backs for life!
Oddly enough,
I played some pick-up ball with a guy named Darryl Ashford today. He was a juco player for Creighton who used up his final year of eligibility last year but is still in school. He has a ver similar bald spot.

Memphis is going to be facing
a choleric Suns squad tomorrow.
I wouldn’t want to be the Grizzlies tomorrow night.
It was only called the mildly irritated house on McDowell until I showed up.

Why not
we’ll be giving each one in their roster a double double

when the shit is clicking
they are a good team…. and when they are off.. see tonight
they are mostly a new group ( of roll players)… some nights they will be exciting and some nights they will be lethargic.
The following keeps me going..
Take me out to the ball game!
The battle against the monster under my bed continues...
Take me out to the crowd.
I’m sorry that Portland had to give you guys such a whoopin’, but it was coming after last time. The Rose Garden is OUR house.
Props to Nash as usual.

can’t believe that was the same Phoenix team.
I wanted the Suns to lose
I want the FO the realize that this team sucks and they need to make a trade, plus lottery pick!!!

I kinda feel like I jinx the game.
Right after I told my brother “wow I’m surprised we’re not losing yet”, Portland literally scored a basket and the Suns never led after that :(

Gentry post game:
..we didn’t do a very good job, can’t score 9 points in a quarter and expect to stay in the game, …..we didn’t execute, got behind the 8 ball and it was catch up…we have not been very good at all, we have to sit down tomorrow and adjust again and get a little better..I gotta make some adjustments some kinda way…
TC : total collapse of the SUNS in the 2nd half.
How about making better decisions on crunch time?
There’s an adjustment….
…crap I want Crunch now. Haven’t had one since Halloween

he always does the same thing in crunch time (ball to nash in the corner w/3 guys on him)
gentry needs to do some ass kickin’, the FO needs to do the right thing, quit and get some folks who know how to build a team to run things.
That sucked

Then trade Lopez to Houston for Williams.

but it wont solve anything. we suck bad bad bad with these bunch of role players.

Tank and get a good pick
Sign Gordon in the offseason and rebuild him (injured) and have a lineup of
C – Gortat, Orton
PF – Anderson, Morris, Rookie?
SF – Williams, Dudley, Childress
SG – Gordon, Reddick,
PG – Nelson, Price, Telfair
"I don't lift weights because they are heavy, and I don't run because it makes me tired." - Charles Barkley
sorry, amnesty Nelson or Chilly
and resign Brooks and start him I guess or sign Raymond Felton, and you have to resolve the situation with Chilly, plus I don’t like Williams starting so sign Wilson Chandler. Revised lineup below
C – Gorat, Orton
PF – Anderson, Morris, Rookie
SF – Chandler, Williams, Dudley
SG – Gordon, Reddick, Dudley
PG – Felton, Telfair

Can't amnesty someone you acquired in a trade, unless you had them before this lock-out.
