Unfortunately, I was not able to watch any Suns summer league, and I only caught a few illegally streamed pre-season games (didn't hurt nobody!). I had no first-hand knowledge about what we were going to get from Tucker. I got the feeling from what coaches, the media, and BSoTS bloggers were saying about him that he'd quickly become a fan favorite. After watching last night's game, I can certainly see why.
Sure, P.J. can't shoot worth a damn. Sure, you'd probably rather have Gortat leading the fast break. But darn it, he plays hard! I was surprised at his ability to be in the right place at the right time. And his speed. I didn't picture him as a very fast or athletic player, and while it seemed to me his hops were nothing special, he seems to have great foot speed.
Now this may be a bit premature, and maybe we'll be better off revisiting this topic later, but I think we should start looking into giving this fine young man a worthy nickname.
Now seeing as he goes by P.J. (his real name is Anthony for those who don't know), when I see the letters P and J together, I naturally think of pajamas. Who wouldn't? However, Pajamas, by itself, would be a stupid-ass nickname for anyone not on a children's TV show. But...
I think this is a little more bad-ass.
Got something better in mind? Let's hear it.
