Are fans dumb, or just plain rude?

Ok, a little off topic, specifically regarding the Suns, but I watched the video of GSW owner Joe Lacob geting booed during a ceremony honoring Chris Mullin and was perplexed.

Obviously, Monta Ellis was recently traded for Andrew Bogut [who is injured]. This apparently sparked immediate fan reactions, as well as a distasteful reaction out of Lacob's" way too hot and young for him" girlfriend. If it were me and my trophy HO started spouting off about decisions I make regarding my company, she would be looking for a new pimp daddy pretty quickly. The fact he even tolerates her shows that he is both pussy whipped and pretty much an idiot.

Yet I digress.

The real issue here is how the fans reacted to the owner at this particular time. there are two overriding issues I see here. First, you would think that, regardless for their combination of love toward Monta/hate toward this deal and the owner for making it, that they could swallow their indignity for a few minutes and let the purpose of the moment go on without fail. To me, Chris Mullin trumps Monta Ellis any day of the week. As a GSW fan [which i am not], I think I can get past my hatred of this deal to honor Mullin, one of the all-time greats to don a warrior uniform. Seems like GSW fans can't remove themselves from their own rage enough to be courteous and respectful.

Secondly, and i suppose this can be argued against, the fact that they are so upset about the deal seems a bit dumb in my book. Ellis has been with the warriors for seven wonderfully terrible seasons. In that time, he has grown into a relatively inefficient scorer that produces little else in regards to helping that franchise win. He may be well liked, but to me, lots of well liked guys get traded without people lighting fires or turning over cars. Additionally, the thought of trading him has been discussed almost more than any other player in the league since the arrival of Curry.

Could they have obtained more in a trade for Ellis? Maybe. But the way I see it, Bogut, when healthy, is a top 5 center [and BTW better than Gortat - when healthy]. He is the second best defensive big in the league, can score down low, and can bring an element to GSW they lack all at the cost of a player who really duplicated an existing element on the roster. If Bogut can get healthy, I believe the GSW fans will do an about face and love the move. You can argue the move might have been bad, but you can't argue that the fans were rude to Mullin and dumb to waste a precious moment in GSW history.
