I know you guys know me for my stupid and outrageous ideas, but in this post, I will be serious from the start to the finish. I will break down drafts and signings that have a high chance of occuring in this offseason. (for the Suns)
I've seen countless reports of the Suns going pursuing Williams if Nash leaves. This would be great, but I think this is very smart for the Suns so it puts Nash on the spot if he wants to stay or go so the Suns would be able to sign FAs accordingly to Nash's request. But IF Nash leaves and we sign Deron, expect us not to get a PG in the draft. Williams would be enticed if he could play WITH a great rookie, which could only happen if we don't get a pg to back him up. Also, if we sign Williams, we would either sign a big name FA like Gordon, or get role players like Gee. Not in between. If we get Williams,we have to get a big name to win a championship so that means this year or next year. I doubt Gordon will be available so we will probably look for a big name next year. I know that in my other post I said you don't need big names but this team does bc its not 12 man deep. The spurs have 2.0 clones of the suns for everything except starting center, and starting PG.
Gee: Why would the Suns get a bad shooter (Childress) who can only drive to score points (childress) I think the suns wanted Childress in the first place bc they thought he'd be a little bit downgraded Marion. Well that didn't happen. Gee can be though. Gee has a little bit of a three point shot (Childress doesn't) Gee is quick and can play D against really fast-paced people (Childress can't guard quick ppl) so Gee is like Grant Hill in that matter.
If we keep Nash, I think we will get the "in between players" I said before bc Nash is like a ticking time bomb. You need either a really good player, or just give him a bunch of decent players. Either that, or we will get a big name next year. And I think we will sign Gee regardless.
Draft: I think we should get a wing or a PF. If we get a PF we can have a valuable trade piece in Frye for a good player or an expiring contract. We can package him with Chilly to the Hawks for Smith possibly bc Smith hates ATL.
When it comes to amnesty, I think Warrick is the best answer. Sure, he doesn't have as big of contract as Childress, but Childress is a way better trade piece that could be great on many teams.
