Obviously, after losing Nash, the FO is trying to rebuild all in one season so we won't have a top 5 worst. We would probably be in the middle of the pack. Our FO really wants Gordon and convinced him that PHX is more caring then NOLA, but Hornets are not giving up.
Everyone knows that if we miss on Gordon we will go for Mayo, but who else? We would have a pretty decent starting 5 except our PFs (Beasley doesn't really count) are not that great. I know Morris is a great addition and Frye is a great shooter, but we have no "real" power forwards who rely on scoops and post up moves. Thats why along with Mayo, we need the Ice Cream Man. Thats right. Luis Scola.
Scola is a "true" power forward. He is known for his beautiful scoops, he can post up, shoot a mid-range J, play defense, and is a great guy off the court who could really help our possible Mayo and Beasley immaturity. Scola has one the sportsmanship award and can really help Morris and Beasley develop into quality big men. With this, Beasley would have the perimeter shooting of a guard, and developing along Scola, the power and skills of a power forward.
The big question "How are we going to get Scola?" Well, the Rockets are going to amnesty him to make room for a possible Dwight trade. We can easily sign Scola and Mayo if the Eric Gordon plan fails. Then, I think we will have one of the most balanced starting fives in the league with Dragic, Mayo, Beasley, Scola, and Gortat. Also, we will have a strong bench with Dudley and Frye getting assists from Marshall. Also Morris will be great on the bench with Frye and Duds, I don't think we need to resign RoLo bc his brother just got a big fat paycheck and Robin is going to want at least half of that. Scola will be a great player for us on and off the court.
Little side note: Scola is very important to the Rockets fans (I would know I live in Houston) He has become a fan favorite among all of the fans there and if he comes here, I know he will be a favorite among all of us. And plus we will have a team besides USA to root for in the Olympics (I think Argentina is in it this year if I'm not mistaken)
