So I read an article on nba.com Here is a link: http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2013/02/14/expansion-is-not-the-simple-solution/
I wanted to know how other fans feel about expansion vs contraction, reducing scheduling, possibly even changing the playoff format, and other like issues.
I am fully aware that I do not know much about the specifics of any of these issues. I also understand that money runs supreme and anything that would potentially take away money from the current owners will simply not be allowed to happen. I am also fully aware of the logistical difficulties in intercountry leagues.
But personally,I am in favor of expansion, reducing the schedule 10-15 games, and keeping the playoff structure as is. I did not like the 5-7-7-7 format from the nineties.
I think expansion would be exciting. Especially a potentially entire european division. European basketball is very popular and European talent is improving to rival the NBA talent. I believe a European division would actually attract, find, and showcase more European talent that may actually increase stars and the talent pool instead of diluting it.
Also, the NBA season is too long. Reducing games would make each game of more importance and thus increase interest. I understand it will likely never happen because of money and that my desire of expansion AND reducing the schedule seems to conflict and likely does. But as a fan.. I like the idea.
Any thoughts anyone?
