Post-Trade Deadline Thoughts

The trade deadline has passed and we approach the end of a very forgettable season. Here are some specific ideas and general thoughts regarding the Suns' future:

WHERE DOES GORTAT END UP?
Gortat needs a PnR point guard to flourish. If we packaged Gortat with our pick (say #4) in a draft day deal with Charlotte for the #1 or 2 pick, the Kemba-Gortat PnR immediately improves the Bobcats' offense.

If that doesn't work out, why not consider dealing with Denver? JaVale McGee is more of a headcase than Gortat, but he's younger and can far surpass Gortat on both ends of the floor. McGee's become a steady contributor this year. If you have an ingrained notion of McGee as a knucklehead, let's see how he fares over the full season and return to the idea later.

DO WE KEEP LUIS SCOLA?
No, and for reasons that have nothing to do with his admirable play this year. Here are two trade ideas:
#1 Scola + the likely Lakers pick at #13 for the TWolves spot around #8. If Derrick Williams gets moved or Love faces injury again, Adelman can call upon a trusted, reliable backup PF.
#2 Scola for a future Spurs 1st rd pick. He fits the system so well, the Spurs may want him even if Tiago Splitter returns next year.

IS IT WORTH LOOKING INTO ERIC GORDON AGAIN?
Draft day events will play an overriding role. The Pelicans may have to sell low, if only to avoid another season dominated by discussion of whether Gordon truly wants to play there.

WHO TO TARGET IN FREE AGENCY?
PF
Paul Millsap (28) - This write-up nails it.

Wings
Mike Dunleavy (32) - Our medical staff can help him remain incredibly efficient.
Chase Budinger (25 in May) - He's played with Dragic before, like Dudley something of an extraordinary role player.
Martell Webster (26) - We have the cap space to attract someone like Webster. He's shooting a spectacular 45% from distance.

SO WHAT ARE THE POTENTIAL 2013-2014 LINEUPS?

Dragic/Marshall
Shabazz Muhammad OR Ben McLemore/Dudley/Tucker
Otto Porter OR Mike Dunleavy OR Martell Webster/Beasley
Paul Millsap/Morris/Morris
Nerlens Noel OR JaVale McGee/Frye
