As some of you know Demarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings has stated that if he doesn't get a max contract extension that he will demand a trade to a team that will. The 22 year old Kentucky alumni has had many problems with his attitude such as getting in verbal fights with coaches and getting a little physical (in a bad way) on the basketball court.
In this fanpost I am going to give my reasons why I think it would be foolish for the Suns not to have interest in the 22 year old center.
The reasons why I think that Demarcus Cousins should be on the Suns radar is that he is only 22! Coming out of Kentucky he was drafted 5th in the 2010 Nba draft. He has been a fantastic player during his 3 year Nba tenure. Over the 3 years he has had an average of 17 and 10 which is very good for a 22 year old. Talent isnt a question when it comes to Cousins and I expect him to become and Nba all-star by next season and be a top 5 center in the near future. Trading for Cousins would give Phoenix a "corner stone" to build around with dragic.
One major down-side to trading for Cousins would be the value. In my opinion the Kings would want very high value at first. I would glady give up the #5 pick in the 2013 nba draft for Cousins. He has way more potential than any player in this weak 2013 draft class. As long as we dont give up Dragic anyone on the Suns roster should be up in the air for the trade for Cousins. If the Kings will accept the offer of Gortat and #5 for Cousins and the kings 36th pick, I would be thrilled.
Then I would package the 36th and 30th pick to the Hawks for the 17th or 18th and select Jamal Franklin. A line-up of Dragic, Franklin, Dudley, Morris or Scola, and Cousins would be a very solid lineup to build around.
I think that coach Hornacek and the Locker room veterans that Cousins lacked in Sacramento would help his attitude problems. In conclusion, Suns NEED Demarcus Cousins. Tell me what you think in the comments! :)
