Suns pass on Noel and McLemore... WTF???

With the number four pick the Bobcats select... Cody Zeller! I feel like an ugly little school girl about to pee herself because she just got asked to the prom by the high school senior quarter back. Nerlens Noel AND McLemore are still on the board for the Suns selection! Not only is there drama as to WHO the Suns will pick, but it will be one of the top 2 prospects!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ With the 5th pick in the 2013 draft the Phoenix Suns select... Alex Len. YAAAA.... WTF?!?!?! No longer am I the little school girl about to pee herself from excitement. Now I'm a grown ass man about to shit myself from the anger I'm feeling. Fortunately, anger turns to reason in time. Dissappointment that the Suns didn't trade for a second lotto pick subsides. And I wonder, McMiracle IS a smart dude. There's a reason he is where he is. SO what is the logic behind the madness??? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The 2013 NBA draft is well known for its lack of superstar talent. The top talents all have HUGE question marks. Even then, they have flaws. Nerlens Noel, the widely regarded #1 prospect is virtually a one way player. As is Oladipo. McLemore is an avergae defender, great shooter and passive charachter. The top prospects are good assets. The top prospects have obvious roles in the NBA. But the top prospects are not franchise altering players such as Duncan, Lebron, Dwight Howard, or Derrick Rose. They are not even projected to be number 2 options on championship caliber teams. They are simply... assets... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So what was McDonough thinking when he drafted Alex Len? The Suns needs are... EVERYTHING. Suns fans are seperate for excitement even if its in another losing season in 2013-2014. SO they drafted Alex Len. He is a big ? just like every other player in the draft. He has bust potential.. But honestly, is it more than Noel or McLemore? Probably not. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What Len is, is a legit 7 footer with athleticism, coordination, and a good skillset. How many of those are in the current NBA? WHat Len is, is a two way player. He can be a game changer on both ends of the floor. The other prospects in the 2013 draft were elite at one side of the floor and hopefully capable of holding their own at the other end. What Len is, is a rare combination of size and skill that the 2013 draft does not boast in any other player. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Was Len the right pick for the Suns in the draft? I don't know. Likely we won't know until well into next season. But this much we do know. Our GM is not afraid to make questionable or unpopular decisions. He is able to recognize and accept the responsibility of drafting a player who very well could become the best player in this draft. There were other players in this draft that will find a role in the league. Our GM drafted the guy with the most potential to POSSIBLY develop into a game changer on both ends. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Am I disappointed there wasn't a second lottery pick to accompany Len? Yes. I understand there is the rumor of McCollum still coming to the Suns and I hope it's true, but speaking from the assumption that what we have is what we have, things could be worse. Our GM has a plan. He has the confidence to carry out that plan. As evidenced by his decision to pass on Noel and McLemore. Also evidenced by his decision to trade up a single spot to snatch Goodwin. He is not afraid to do what he believes in, and he is not afraid to be bold. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am not here to tell you he made the right decisions tonight. I do not know that. In fact, I would have done much differently myself. Likely we will have our own opinions at some point of next season when we see the results as to the answer to that. But for now, I am here to tell you we have a confident, bold, and decisive GM as evidenced by the draft. He didn't take the easy way out with pick #5 or pick #30. That should be enough to breed optimism, that with experience those traits should be enough to bring a winning team back to the vlley of the sun. The purple and orange... Errr.. The black and orange, should be rising to prominence soon enough.
