Stole this idea off another site but it was fun to think about so i'm bringing it here.
You have the 1st round draft picks this year, you have one trade (realistic, money matches, etc...picks can be included) and one FA signing. Has to fit into the salary cap, team has around around $10m to use.
Okay so here's what I came up with: 3 way trade.
Mav's get Scola,Sessions and the Suns
2nd rounder next season.
get Frye, Beasley, Dudley, the Morris twins, Suns #30 pick this year and a top 14 protected Suns 1st in 2016. (Bobcats do deals like this a lot. taking on salary for 1st round picks)
Suns get Shawn Marion
, Ben Gordon
, Tryus Thomas, Jeffrey Taylor and the Mav's #13 pick this year. (Mav's are trying to move salary, 1st rounder cap holds to free up money to go after Howard and Paul)
With the two drafts picks i'm taking Combo guard CJ McCollum and small forward Giannis Adetokoubo. Both athletic players, McCollum is a great scorer on with and withut the ball. Adetokoubo is a freak of nature with a huge 7'4 wingspan and has good handle and cutting for his size. Young player who is still growing and developing.
With my one free agent signing I take power forward Andray Blatche
Obviously this isn't a championship team but those teams aren't built overnight usually. This team is set up for the future. Several contracts come off the books after this season an with a deep draft the team could make big strides in just two years.
Because I haven't allowed the re-signing of current players as part of this 'game; we will the roster will be without.
C: Gortat - Haddadi
PF: Blatche - Thomas
SF: Marion - Adetokoubo - Taylor
SG: Tucker - Gordon - Brown
PG: Dragic - McCollum - Marshall
