Should we somehow jump into the fray to help a division rival? Well we just did it for the Clips, and it's not the Lakers so lets do it. So here's an idea, however unlikely. Oh and Mr. Fong, this is for you! ;)
Why G.S. does it: This is all about getting D12 so he is the prize and we are facilitating it. Ultimately this is trading Bogut, Jefferson and a first rounder for D12. That's equal value I would say.
Why Dallas does it: This is really the tough sell. Dallas is obviously in the hunt for Howard, but I think if he comes out saying that they are out of it, Dallas must look elsewhere for help and I think Bogut is a pretty nice consolation prize, especially if they are able to shed Marion's (or Carter's) salary in the process, and pick up 2 serviceable young pieces in positions of need. What this also does is leaves them with room to sign another large piece such as Josh Smith. I think a Dallas frontline of Bogut, Nowitzki, and Smith could be extremely potent.
Why Phoenix does it: obvious. Draft picks and FUTURE cap space. Everyone will scream that this kills our cap space this year, but seriously, who cares? at the end of the year we would have Marion, Jefferson, and Butler coming off the books. That's $28,362,796! I say lets use what cap space we have this year to garner as many future assets as possible. Plus this still leaves us to pursue trade avenues with Gortat and Scola for the future.
