According to one of the most credible news sources in the country, the New York Daily News, the Celtics may possibly consider maybe trading Rondo before the trade deadline, and if they don't, may possibly consider maybe trading him later. I know, big story! http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/lawrence-rondo-rajon-move-article-1.1583942 According to the article, Rondo isn't likely to be okay playing for a rebuilding team with a rookie coach, and suggests Phoenix as a possible destination (you know, because we're a rebuilding team with a rookie coach).
Although I don't really buy the validity of the article, I do think it is an interesting idea. For Boston, they would have the chance to lock Bledsoe up long term, where Rondo only has a year left on his contract. They could hold Bled out most of this year to make sure his knee is fully recovered, then build around him and Embiid/Parker/Randle next year. Maybe we would need to throw in a draft pick or two, but I would still probably do it.
For the Suns, they would finally get a true superstar caliber player, one that their current GM drafted in the first place. No offense to Curry and Thompson, but Rondo and Dragic would be the best backcourt in the league. A future lineup including Rondo, Dragic, Tucker, and Len could have the makings of an elite defense, and in my opinion would bring us a step closer to being true contenders.
I'm curious to hear other Suns' fans opinions on the idea. Obviously Rondo's acl injury would require looking into, and he only has a year on his deal as opposed to being able to lock up Bledsoe for the next four-five years, but to me, Rondo is simply a better player, and if he actually is on the move, I would be looking to get involved if I were the Suns.
