Solid rumours are abound that Sacremento is about to buy out the rest of Jimmer Fredette's rookie contract, and the question for us is, is that something we should take a moment to consider jumping all over?
It's no secret that Jimmer has failed to live up to the expectations bestowed upon him back on draft day 2010, but it's also no secret that the Sacramento system isn't exactly his best fit.
But even though many might class him as a disappointment, he's still played well in spite of this. Check out his PER36 stats here...
His shooting numbers of 47.5% from the field, and 49.3% from 3 are fantastic, especially for a guard, and despite the apparent slow progress, his numbers PER36 absolutely indicate improvement, and he's still growing.
He's also only 25, with this being his 3rd season, which fits perfectly into Ryan McDonagh's much quoted philosophy of finding young talent to help us in the long term as opposed to rented vets for short term appeal.
Personally, I feel he'd be a fantastic fit here. Our style is much more suited to his game, and he could thrive in our offence, and seemingly fit right into the mix. Whether it's loading up on great 3pt shooters for a playoff run now, or finding a great young talent that might possibly have a future with us, I feel we can't go wrong. He'll no doubt be available for peanuts too, maximising the low risk, high reward potential in the entire affair.
But what do you think guys? Are Sacramento releasing a hidden gem into the fold? Would he produce in Phoenix? Does he have a potential future here?
