With the elevated play of Green and Ish, it's easy to forget how much better the suns can be with Bledsoe.
That's why I did a quick google search and came up with this:
Remember how before Bledsoe went down, the suns were 4th seed? the warriors were at about 8th a little while before. Then they got Iggy back and started destroying everyone. Although Iggy doesn't a whole lot statwise (or not as much as you might expect), he's a difference maker because of how he impacts the Warriors' style of play. When he came back, their defensive rotations became better. They had another facilitator and playmaker. Their ball movement was better too.
Adding back Bledsoe will do the very same thing. Kudos to the Suns. It must be mentally draining battling other teams night in and night out and to look at Bledsoe on the bench because we all know he wants to play and could have swung many games in their favor, but was unable to.
Bledsoe will add in another ball handler so that opponents won't blitz Dragic so often and so successfully. That means less turnovers, where opponents have been capitalizing a lot. We can estimate that to be at least a 4 ppg improvement on the defensive end. He'll also create easy buckets for Plumlee. Dragic doesn't get Plumlee that involved b/c he's not as good at throwing lobs and dumping the ball onto the bigs isn't his style. That should be at least a few points on the offensive side, PLUS when Plumlee is no longer a liability on the offensive end,he can be more engaged and get more minutes on the defensive end. If he can return to 75% of his original form and confidence, that improvement alone would be HUGE. Bledsoe will also put a ton of pressure on opposing point guards, meaning that they take more time on the shot clock and have to work a lot harder to set up teammates. There's also added offensive efficiency because there'll always be a starting pg on the floor and when he and Dragic are both on the floor, when one pick and roll doesn't work, they can always swing the ball to the other side and try again.
Additionally, with Tucker's probable suspension, we can see what it looks like to have Green start the game. This means no more of having to watch Tucker cheat off of Matt Barnes in the corner, leading to Matt Barnes getting an open 3. Also, the opposition will have less ability to run Green off the 3 point line and there's another point guard to feed him the ball there when he has an opportunity. Remember when Hornacek had Markieff coming off the bench because of how awesome that worked after that one time he got suspended? We could see the same thing with Tucker.
Over the next few games, don't sleep on the Suns with Bledsoe coming back. I predict a really strong finish to the season (it's not nearly as tough as their December schedule, and look how well they did there), with them ending up clinching the 7th seed. With Dragic playing at an all nba level, Green on fire, and Ish looking like a really nice backup, it's kinda hard to forget how awesome the basketball has been when we watched Bledsoe and Dragic playing together, but Bledsoe is THE difference maker for this team.
