The Unconventional Strategy For Next Season

Amidst the playoffs, one thing seems clear. You need a veteran to make the playoffs. The Suns are made up of young players who, except for maybe Frye, don't have legitimate playoff experience. We need some veterans that will take on a small role but will lead us off the court to the playoffs.

I might be crazy for even thinking of this idea, but... Bring Nash back. I know this sounds really stupid, but this idea is sentimental and somewhat logical.

I know that Nash's contract will hamper our free agency decisions (9.7 mil next year) but it seems like we might not get our superstar this year and wait for 2015 free agency when a host of good players that might legitimately could come to the Suns. Nash will only limit us this year, and after signing Bledsoe, we should be able to get Nash and maybe another vet at a decently priced contract.

The sentimental values for this are evident. At one point, Nash was every BSOTS member's favorite player (or top 3). Nash defines the Suns, he's the best player to ever play on the Suns, and he means A LOT to us Suns fans. Nash needs to retire on a team that is home to his best basketball memories. Where he dropped a game winning fadeaway over Dallas, led the Suns to the WCF, dropped thousands of dimes to his Suns teammates, and won 2 MVPs. Phoenix is his home.

The logical reasons for this are that he can mentor Eric Bledsoe and turn him into a complete beast. Right now Eric is not a great shooter and is a decent passer at best. Nash would completely change that and turn Bledsoe into the superstar that he's built to be. Nash could come off the bench for valuable playoff minutes and could even be our closer (something that we desperately DESPERATELY need). Nash can fix the details of this team while the same team from this season can take us far. Combining Nash and this team would definitely make for a playoff team that would be scary (not Finals scary but maybe WCF with a more experienced Bledsoe and drat picks).

Nash would be healthy with us, his last few seasons with the Suns he played 81, 75, and 62 (out of 66) games. He is clearly frustrated in LA (in his documentary series) and wants to get back to the court. With the Suns he can do that. Also it's just for one year and he will leave a long lasting effect on this team with his leadership and mentoring. I hope I wasn't the only one thinking about this idea, but BRING NASH BACK! (maybe Dirk will come also and combine with Nash to win a championship ;) ) But in reality I know this may not happen, but this is sort of a feel good piece to get us thinking about the good days and the good days to come after barely missing the cut for the playoffs.

Get ready Suns fans, the best days are yet to come.
