It appears that the Los Angeles Lakers are trying to make moves to pitch both Carmelo Anthony and Lebron James and one recent rumour involves combining there pick 7 with Steve Nash expiring 9.7mil a year contract.
This current scenario playing out with big name players opting out of contracts seems to be perfect for our GM. Not for landing a big fish but for exploiting the needs of other teams to have options to pitch for those big names.
Whilst we all dream for a big name star to land in Phoenix this summer, it appears the market for these guys doesn't involve Phoenix and that means that our GM should be focussed on picking the pockets of these other starstruck GM's.
The Lakers recent rumblings on there draft pick are intriguing. McD has expressed a desire to move up in this draft, and right now, LA has a pick 7 that is available. There anchor to attach to that pick is also a Suns legend and has a one year expiring deal.
So the question is, would you take back Nash and his salary for the no.7 pick in this draft. And knowing LA, they would expect something in return to be seen to not be screwed. I would attach our latest first rounder (pick 27) or a role player to get this done.
And this is not the only scenarios to be played out as there are a number of teams who will be looking for trade partners to free up cap space. And whilst Phoenix may not be a favoured landing spot for the big fish from recent reports, it will be a favoured phone call for GM's looking to adjust there rosters for the pitch.
And we all know the abilities after last summer of our GM to take advantage of these situations to improve our team.
Can't wait to see what McD does this summer, its going to be fun to watch!!!!
