As I browse the fanposts and their comments, many of them are about trading one of our two point guards. This boggles my mind that we have two potential all-star point guards and many on this site want to trade one of them. Many want to trade one of them for an all-star or an up-and-coming all-star but this is not a good idea. You want to trade one of our point guards to the Wolves to get Kevin Love? We would then turn into the Wolves, but worse since they have better SGs and Centers.
Why we cannot trade either of them. Hornacek has developed a unique system using these two point guards who bring their own style but both are great slashers. Dragic can shoot and Bledsoe can play strong defense. Both are capable of leading a team when the other is out. Imagine if we suffered an injury to our starting point guard (Bledsoe) but we didn't have the other point guard (Dragic) to come in and take over. Many teams would be devastated if this happened, but we nearly snuck into the playoffs when one of our PGs were injured. Many of you are now probably thinking that since we got close to the playoffs and played most of our games without Bledsoe, we should trade him. What if Dragic got injured? Then Bled would fill in for him and we would probably be near the playoffs as well.
The Suns have won 28/43 games with Bledsoe. I'm gonna let that sink in for a bit. 28/43. That's a good enough win % for 6th in the highly competitive West. And this was a team supposed to be #15 in the west. 65.1% of our games were won with Bledsoe. 51.3 % of our games were won without him. That's a huge difference. Hornacek's advanced point guard system HAS worked and our unique system has brought us far. If both pgs stay healthy, we are an instant contender. If we trade up and get a top 8 pick, I believe we can make it to the Conf. finals next year. All of our players would develop and we get a strong player from the draft and we have a young and quick lineup that can successfully run it's offense through 2 different players. We have a top 3 backcourt in the league and as both Dragic and Bled develop, we could move to number 1. Our backcourt is unified as the star that drove our team so far.
We cannot mess up Hornacek's fragile but competitive system. KEEP OUR BACKCOURT TOGETHER.
