Of course, the Suns missed out on the obvious number one target, LeBron James, as he decided to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Also, it seems as though Carmelo Anthony isn't Phoenix-bound as reports are indicating he is going to re-sign with the New York Knicks. With Channing Frye leaving the Suns after accepting a four-year deal with the Orlando Magic, the Suns are left with a hole in their starting rotation at the PF position.
The option that everyone wants to happen is the Suns trading for Minnesota Timberwolves forward, Kevin Love. Kevin Love would fit in very well within the Suns' system. He is a big man who can spread the floor with his 3-point shooting and is one of the best rebounders in the league on both ends of the court. That would be the ideal situation. But unfortunately, it seems as though Kevin Love could wind up with another team, such as Cleveland to play with LeBron.
One less appealing option is directed towards Carlos Boozer. Reports are that the Bulls are closing in on signing Pau Gasol and with a sign-and-trade seeming unlikely, the Bulls will have to amnesty Boozer to make room for Gasol. Boozer is on the downside of his career now so it might not be a good option for an up-and-coming team like the Suns. He could possibly be a stop-gap guy until a better option comes along.
An obvious option is just to move Markieef Morris into the starting five. Morris showed serious potential last season coming off the bench. His upside is great and he can slide into that spot without the coaching staff having to change the system at all.
Next year's Suns team should be fun to watch. Hopefully they can add some more pieces to this team and not stop at Isaiah Thomas. Which players do you guys think would fit in here in Phoenix?
