Bledsoe's knee injury is a concern

Eric Bledsoe had a great half a season for the Suns. He was a big reason for the Suns turnaround. Yet, nobody with the exception of the Suns have offered him a contract. Restricted free agents are hard to sign away from their teams. But, I think Bledsoe's knee is a concern. Knee injuries in the NBA are like cancer. They scare people. Knees are so vital, with all the jumping, twisting and turning.

Luckily, for the Suns and Bledsoe his is not a serious knee injury. But, I find it interesting the Suns picked Alex Len, a player who has ankle problems, over Nerlens Noel, a better player who had a knee problems. Even the vaunted Suns medical staff seems to avoid knee problems. They will deal with Nash's back, Hill and Len's ankles. Stoudamire's knees ended a great career.

My point is this. The Suns came out and said they would match any offer for Bledsoe. This guaranteed it would be only a four year deal. One less year if he gets injured. Cheaper insurance against his possible injuries. The Suns now hold all the cards. His agent would be a fool to let Bledso play on a QO. When he can get a 50 million dollar contract for his player. Even though Bledsoe is only 24, he may not have a long career. In four years he may be slowed by injuries. Bledsoe was great and fun to watch last year. But, last year was his first time playing big minutes and he played half a season.

The Suns have done what they had to do. I know Bledsoe wanted a max contract. Max contracts to the wrong guys kill franchises. Look at Josh Smith, Rudy Gay, Amare Stoudamire, Eric Gordon, and there's too many to mention.
