Steve Nash in Slovenia and How awesome is Goran Dragić

USA TODAY Sports

Hey! Just wanted to post this link to a Steve Nash interview, made after Slovenia won against Canada 92:80 in the first pre-game to the World Cup. It's in English - obviously. Steve says some nice things about Slovenia's team & the Dragon, explains his role on the Canadian team and tells us why he is still driven to play basketball at his age.

I was at the game and could see Steve Nash being very friendly with Goran Dragić and his family before the start. It is so easy being a fan of Goran when he plays basketball, but you just fall in love with him when you see him live. Right before the game starts, he's walking by the crowd, and this little boy in a full Suns Goran Dragić attire goes up to him for a signature. And since Goran is on his way to the bench, he gives the kid a wink, a smile and an "We'll do it later!". I heard he had already been there an hour before the start of the game, hanging out with fans & taking selfies.

After the game, it was funny, because Steve got surrounded by reporters immediately and stayed at half-court for about 20 minutes. Goran, on the other hand, went to the locker room with his teammates and then spent the next 20+ minutes getting back; signing, taking pictures and just generally being so nice with the fans. At one point someone was calling out that the media needed him with Steve and not even thinking about leaving fans unsatisfied, he told them he'd be right there when he was done and continued with his awesomeness. I'm pretty sure that everyone who was there waiting for Gogi, got some Gogi.

Steve was great too; 2+ hours of the small arena heat, hanging back after a loss to talk with the media and still signing and taking pictures on the way out.

In case anyone was wondering: Slovenia won the Adecco Cup (series of 3 pre-games) with 3 wins and 0 loses. Jaka Klobučar was named MVP of the competition. With his performance and leadership (while filling in at point guard for Dragić), I thought he kept the team grounded and focused.

And now for the "How awesome" poll:
