Time For Eric Bledsoe To "Man Up"

Eric Bledsoe is playing the part choreographed by his agent. Unfortunately, it is a losing strategy. Eric is a very good young player with great potential (assuming he is able to stay healthy). However, he is not yet an elite player and is not deserving of a maximum contract.

In today's NBA, a player's value is determined by the laws of supply and demand (aka: the free enterprise system). It is true that several other restricted free agents received maximum money this year (and most were totally undeserving). Had another team made a maximum offer for Bledsoe, Phoenix would have been forced to match it, let him go with no compensation in return or work out a sign and trade agreement. That offer never came.

Whatever Bledsoe's agent is doing on his behalf, one thing he does not seem to be doing is successfully hustling a maximum offer from one of the NBA's other 29 teams. With no other offers to consider matching, Phoenix is doing the right thing and standing pat. From a business standpoint, it makes absolutely no sense for the Suns to bid against themselves. Ryan McDonough is a very good poker player and he knows he is holding a winning hand.

Therefore, rather than whining and further compounding his anxiety and everyone else's by waiting for an imaginary max offer that is never coming, Bledsoe needs to get rid of his agent, put on his "big boy pants" and make a decision whether to accept the best offer he can get from Phoenix or play one more year on his qualifying offer and becoming an unrestricted free agent next year. Either way, Bledsoe needs to do something. The Suns management, players and fans are tired of all this totally unnecessary drama.

Its time to move on Eric!

GO SUNS!!!
