Suns Need a New Intro

Not having been to a game at any other arena, I'm not sure how teams handle this problem.  What happens when a guy featured in the pre-game intro doesn't play?

Star-divide

For those of you who cannot/do not attend games, you can download the Suns intro via podcasting.  My brother thinks the shirt-less thing is slightly homo-erotic and notes that Boris keeps his shirt on -- which is interesting because all over Dirty Scottsdale, his shirt is off with his love handles flapping in the breeze.

Anyway, Marcus Banks has a pretty dominant role.  Do you think the ad department consults with the coaches on this?  Really, now.  Even going into the season, it was somewhat unlikely that Banks was going to get extensive playing time.  Now, his minutes are looking thinner than ever.  For the time being, DJ is going to get those minutes.

Skinner deserves Banks' spot in the intro.  He's usually the eighth guy off the bench and the fans are taking to him.  That would be pretty cool, having the The Principal blow something up or tear something down.  We'll give the Suns a pass on that one, because I think he's been a pleasant surprise and no one would've seen him blossoming when he reported to training camp.

It's kind of embarassing to see this guy highlighted when he's only going to get PT in garbage time.

It's mid-season, so it seems to me that the intro can be changed.  Anyone know who I should call at the Suns' PR department?

Hmmm
Well I guess the intro does need some work.  My only personal beef is i'd like some hardcore head-bangin heavy metal to start the intro like the first 40sec of the live recording of Angel Holocaust by Iced Earth.  Very very badass intro.  Any Dragonforce instramental would work as well

Lemme know what you guys think

BTW
Dragonforce is truly epic.  I recommend it to any metal head, should there be any at all on this site.

the music does blow...
they should come back with "Firestarter" as the intro music, as opposed to whatever crap they play now. Also I'm sure this has been mentioned at some point, but "Planet Orange," as a slogan, just sounds gay.

Yeah Planet Orange does fail
Perhaps "Legion of the Sun"  or "Orange Horde"

I dunno, anything else would be better than Planet Orange.

I agree
I loved Firestarter and hated that Planet Orange crap the first time I heard one of the radio guys say it 10 times in a sentence!!!  It also seems like they are trying to phase out the purple.

It's not
like I live there either. I just happened to witness it first hand when I went to Phoenix in November to watch the Cavs. I guess they didn't even try to top or keep the "Eyes on the Prize" campaign, so I'm sure in the Suns marketing meeting, someone must have proposed, "time to scrap everything, what's the lamest, most childish, least intimidating, opposite end of the spectrum promo we can think of...PLANET ORANGE!" And then, I go to the Suns shops to buy a couple of T-shirts and caps, cuz you can't find any of that in Texas, and most of them say "PLANET ORANGE." I was not gonna buy something that lame and take it back to Texas, and have my friends who are mostly Spurs and Mavs fans mock "Planet Orange." Instead I mock it.

Lets go old school
As a child, I knew the Suns were comming out when they started playing "Eye in the Sky" by the Alan Parson's Project. The intro was not cool graphically and the song really isn't something you would pump unless you were in the Purple Palace, but to me it worked. The video intro was very focused on the desert landscape and had a flamming ball that traveled the valley and ended up in the arena, all the while the electronic riff guided the pace. The song totally set up the announcer's voice which made the court sound like an upcomming boxing bout. It didn't showcase individuals, it emphasized the team and the town it called home. Plus it was freakin awesome in the dark. Now if they get a 21st century version update of the video that would be awesome.

Agreed
I liked that opening too, always seemed to be just right for any game.  But can we please get some kickass metal intro just once!!!!  30,000 headbanging fans would be very cool indeed.

I did love the last one
If there's any recent intro I liked, it has to be the "Firestarer" one. The song makes sense for a team like the Phoenix, fast, explosive, and dangerous. Plus the vid is sooo cool, the suits making them high paid assassins. Can we also bring back the 2005 mantra of "Working Hard, Playing Harder". That seems to be something that this team needs.
