Recap: San Antonio vs. Utah

Sports Network | November 21, 2008

San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Roger Mason dropped a season-high 29 points and George Hill contributed a career-high 23 points in San Antonio's 119-94 blowout victory over Utah, the Spurs' 19th straight regular season win at home against the Jazz.

Tim Duncan played third fiddle to the offensive prowess of Mason and Hill but still contributed 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists for San Antonio, which has won four of its last five contests.

The short-handed Jazz were without star forward Carlos Boozer, who suffered a strained left quad tendon in Wednesday's win over Milwaukee. Ronnie Brewer posted a team-high 17 points for Utah, which also missed guard Deron Williams (ankle), forward Kyle Korver (wrist) and center Jarron Collins (wrist) en route to snapping a two-game winning streak.

C.J. Miles logged 16 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in defeat.

Both teams shot well in the first quarter and the Spurs led 29-24 heading to the second. The sharp-shooting continued for the hosts as a pair of Duncan free throws put San Antonio ahead 57-45 with 2 1/2 minutes to play in the half.

Utah scored eight of the next 10 points, but the Spurs built on their 61-53 halftime lead with a flawless third quarter. A Mason layup ignited a 12-4 run, capped by Matt Bonner's jumper and an 83-65 lead with just under five minutes to play in the frame.

An 11-0 Spurs run in the final two minutes all but sealed it, as Mason's three-pointer at the third-quarter buzzer made it a 95-71 game and the Jazz never threatened in the fourth with their make-shift lineup.

Utah is just 2-5 on the road this year...The host in this series has won ten straight and 14 of the last 16 meetings...Michael Finley had 14 points for San Antonio.
