Nets' Krstic to play overseas

Sports Network | July 29, 2008

New York, NY (Sports Network) - New Jersey Nets big man Nenad Krstic has signed a two-year contract worth $5 million per year to play for Triumph Moscow, according to the New York Daily News.

Krstic averaged 6.6 points and 4.4 rebounds in 45 games - 38 starts - in his fourth season with the Nets last year. The 7-footer was slow to recover from reconstructive knee surgery after he tore his left ACL during the 2006-07 campaign, when he averaged 16.4 points and 6.8 boards in 26 games before suffering the injury.

The Nets made a $2.7 million qualifying offer to Krstic, giving them the right to match any other NBA offers. But the market for the center was slow, likely due to his knee injury.

Krstic is the second former Net to leave for Russia in recent days. Forward Bostjan Nachbar signed with Dynamo Moscow last week.
