amare block on dwight

Fanhouse posted this sweet picture recently:

Star-divide

The tagline read

"I don't casually apply the phrase "clash of the titans", but I think it's appropriate here. Amare Stoudemire shows Dwight Howard the true meaning of big man athleticism"

Of course, what Shoals failed to mention was (if I remember correctly) Howard got the ball right back and dunked it without impedence.

The more I watch him, the more I'm convinced that Dwight = 2004 Amare (with no outside shot yet)

No Outside Shot
Amare didn't have a really good outside shot in 2004 -- it was still developing.

Howard is a bigger dude, too, so he can set nasty screens.  On top of that, he feels good playing the 5.  He's got "athletic Shaq" written all over him (including the free throws, unfortunately).

This is a monster match-up when they play.  Fun to watch.

on Dwight
I think some players can develop into good shooters, Amare is definitely one of them. But if you watch Dwight shoot, I think he's one of those that simply can't develop into a good outside shooter, he's that bad. But, on the flip side, when you say Amare 2004 = Dwight now, I'd say....Amare has never gotten boards like Dwight does, Dwight is that good in that area, plus the key, like you mentioned, he likes being the center. I think we all know how amare feels about being the center.

Imagine the flip side, having Nash wanting to be a big man, like Amare wants to shoot 3's. Having Nash try to out muscle big guys and post up, pretty funny. I think it's because centers rarely get te fame, it's mostly the guards and forwards.

My new screen saver!
This is a totally awesome pic!

Amare is really shown his improvement on D and the boards this year and in last nights game against the Kings showed that when needed he could provide the reliable go-to low post scoring that we need.

I think Amare is in for his best year yet and I would totally take him over Dwight. He's the more versitile player and I think has the bigger heart and will to win.

I'd trade Amare
for Dwight any time ... Dwight knows how to be a team member, and he will get some rings .. I'd love to see him do that in PHX

me also
plus Dwight seems really cool, so relaxed and fun. My wife and I absolutely loved the sticker on the backboard during the dunk contest. All the youtube video I see of him really makes me think he'd be a much better teammate than amare
