After going through a rough patch to start the month of December, the Mavericks look to have righted the ship again just in time to face the Suns tonight in Dallas. The Mavericks opened December with a 3-4 swoon that had some around here wondering if they were fading. But they bring a three-game winning streak into tonight's meeting, and at 11-2, have been nearly as unbeatable at home this season as the Spurs. Fresh off of Monday's victory over the Spurs, the Sun will once again test their conference-best road record against a team with a very tough home court advantage. Avoiding a letdown will be key.
The Suns have gone toe-to-toe with the Mavericks the past three seasons. Nearly all have been close games decided in the final minutes or overtime. The Mavericks have usually taken the early-season games, and the Suns have won the ones after the All-Star break. Unfortunately, after three straight seasons of highly entertaining late-February or March games in Dallas, the schedule-makers have decided one trip to Dallas is enough this time. Therefore, if the Suns want a win in Dallas before the playoffs, they'll have to do it tonight.
With this being the rare game that jasonsuns1 can watch instead of just listen to, I'm giving him the live blogging and recap honors tonight while I take some time to get caught up on all the Christmas-related stuff that fell behind from several days of traveling (or to just sit back and enjoy the game without worrying about blogging it, should it turn out to be one of those riveting affairs that demands my full attention). Check the comments during the game for the live blog, and the the diaries afterwards for the recap.
It's too bad we won't get to see one of these mid-March classics in Dallas this season, but maybe we can get one tonight:

here we go...
I appear to be wrong about Dallas from my earlier Diary. After another 10 games we'll see how wrong, but, I'm very excited that they have been playing well. The Mavs have won 5 of their last 6,
Beating Utah 125 to 117
Beating Orlando 111 to 108
Beating Houston 96 to 83.
This makes our matchup mean all the more, no major player injuries (at least injuries forcing dnp)
Very exciting!!
on Nash being mvp and so valuable
GO SUNS!!
plenty of energy early
marion and amare already each have one foul
dirk blows layup
nash 2 for 2
dirk hits 2 in a row
both teams very up for this
hill with awesome dunk, cool seeing his dad smile in stands
already some offensive boards
and a 2 second basket again, dallas miss, 2 seconds later marion layup, suns can run full speed with mavs, that really plays into our game. Some nerves at start, otherwise we'd be doing better, but still
suns 12-14
Such a fun game at this pace
side note
just saw I am Legend recently, pretty good, but if the script was better, or if they used real people for zombies instead of something that didn't even look real, it would've been better, Will Smith was his normal cool self
dampier killing us inside
nash with sweet layup
harris back 3 seconds later with layup
bad call, waiting on replay....suns still have it
nash scores again
25 - 16 dallas wining
quick sweet drive and 2 by barbosa 25-18
thought amare just made a block, but they called
2 fouls for amare
Amare
hey CJJ
Amare
Garnett would have given them a legitimate shot at the title for the next 3 to 5 years.
and to add on to that
horrible first q
37 - 20
strategy, i really thought at 12-14 suns were doing fine and had missed a few shots but were still right there, then the bottom fell out a little.
finally been waiting
47 - 33
trashy foul by dampier
dampier....you've just swung the karma back to the suns
thank you...
a three by bell
that should be a break away foul, it was!!
poor call again
haha
but we can't convert
then offense foul on dallas
wait over rule, b.s.
amare
dallas announcers noticing he isn't doing what he was doing against them last yr
great defense by suns
mavs get offensive board...again
oh!!!!!!!!!
10 - 2 run for suns
mavs hit a 3
nash answers back with a 3!!!!!!!
real simple, great ball movement by suns
great defense by suns
2 seconds left at half, mavs by 6, suns ball!!!
ATTACK!
yep
great finish to the half
down by 4
should be a fun second half
momentum
2 wide open three shots by mavs
i agree with d'antoni, it was goal tending by dampier, easy blown call
want a replay on offensive foul on amare...
doesn't look so clear, i think bass folded
wow
and amare dunks it and the message is
we're coming
78 - 72
nice to see us being physical
careless pass by diaw
suns score off quick break, and again offensive board and this time mavs do convert mavs up by 5
horrible...did i say horrible
just horrible.....lazy....
suns are throwing this one away, sad after coming back to within 1
mckoy
There been a lot of poor calls this game, but suns lack of rebounding (allowing so many offensive boards), plus lazy passes has killed us tonight.
3 offensive boards in a row
mavs out hustling us...real simple.... i love the suns...but the mavs have earned this win...
lead by 12
maybe we sneak in a crazy comeback, but we sure don't deserve it tonight...
frustrating, I wish we played the mavs 7-8 times so maybe we could learn more about our weaknesses.
What the Hell!
nice steal again by hill
amare for a big dunk and foul
mavs are crying for travel...I'd have to watch replay..unsure on travel...these players.. hard to tell
wow
amare is awake..a block, then a steal...then nash drives and is at the line...
we're within 6 with 3:52 left
amare might have fouled on the steal (the mavs)
lets discuss amare, why haven't we (nash and him) been doing what they're doing now, why wait. Give amare the ball and he's unstoppable, that worked 2 yrs ago... nice to see, wish it was earlier
marion at line hits first
marion both
down by 4
bell hustling...
to little too late... maybe....
terry makes first down by 7
terry makes both
nash loses it
we could've been within a basket
that's the game......
dirk at line...lead back to (wait
on replay nash was hacked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dirk nails a big three!!
1:58 left
down by 7
amare scores
down by 5
1:44 left

Yuck
Nice game except for that nasty first quarter. Mavs' 2nd quarter was almost as bad and we'll get them next time. Dallas doesn't put any fear in the Suns and Phx's 4-3 record in the last 7 games in Dallas is proof.
That's funny
