Game Thread: Phoenix Suns at Dallas Mavericks

Here it is.  The game many fans have had marked on their calendars for a month or more.  And Suns fans are confident the Suns will win tonight.  Or are they?

Over the past several weeks, I've seen people guarantee a win in Dallas, say the Mavericks are overrated and that the Suns will show everyone who the real best team is and that Nash is the MVP of the league despite Dallas having the best record.

This morning I wake up to people saying things like this:

"The bottom line is that it is just another regular season game."

"I hope we win, but let Dallas come into the playoffs over confident."

"This game means nothing! The only thing that matters is who wins in the playoffs."

"Of course I want the win tonight, but I am more interested in seeing certain aspects of the game to measure where the Suns are right now."

"If the Suns lose it isnt the end of the world."

Does that sound like a bunch of confident fans to you?  I understand that everyone is trying to hedge their bets against a team that appeared unstoppable just a few days ago but come on!  You're Suns fans!  You're supposed to be over-confident in your team even in the face of defeat.  That's what fans do!

Keys to the game?  Play like they did on Monday.  If they do that, they'll blow the Mavericks out.  If they slow down the game, they'll win a nailbiter.  But the Suns will win tonight.  By 9.  Mark it down.  Dallas is favored by 4 tonight but it won't happen.

This is going to be a good game and at times it will probably seem like the Suns won't pull it out.  That's how games work.  But lets have some confidence in our team. GO SUNS!!!

"I came, I saw, I conquered."  Thats what I wanna hear (either in English or Latin) from Nash or any one of our boys after tonight's game.  As I've said to many of my friends, the Suns have all the tools they need to beat any team, anytime, anywhere.  They just gotta come into a game with the will to win.  And believe me you, our boys will come in with a strong desire, nay, a lust to beat the tar out of the Mavs.  Thus with confidence in our minds and passion beating strong in our hearts we should come out and beat this Dallas team, even if they're almost invinciple at their home court.  And as Dan said, though the game will be a close one and perhaps the Suns may even look bad at parts, we will triumph in the end.
Good shooting, a keen mind and the will to win the game will determine tonight's victor.  And count on our Suns to bring all those keys.

Hmm...
I don't believe in being over-confident, because I usually end up jinxing the team when I am.  :)  Let's just say if the Suns can be at their best from the get-go, I like their chances a lot.  They were a decent start (wouldn't have even needed to be a great start) OR three fewer missed Amare free throws away from winning the one in December.  Fix either one of those problems, and that game would have been theirs.

Yes Dan!

Yes Dan, that's what I'm saying! Thank you!

How can you rejoice in a team's success when you didn't truly get behind the team before they had that success? That's being an observer, not a fan!

Let's Go Suns!

Confidence
I see a difference between the fans of the two teams- The Mavs fans BELIEVE that their team is going to win the championship. The Suns' fans wonder if their team is good enough to make it to the conference finals, and I raise my hand as 'guilty' for doing that. The Suns need to know that their fans believe in them. My case is different, however. Whenever I think the Suns would win, they lose. So I am not saying anything.

I was shocked to read this morning that the Mavs are FIVE points favorites to win tonight. I hope that provides extra motivation to the Suns.

Go Suns!

LOL
Me too.  The best thing I can do for the Suns is to keep my mouth SHUT.  :)  (Or maybe post a blog cheering on the Mavs, but I just can't make myself do that a second time this week, sorry).
