Game Thread: Phoenix Suns vs Los Angeles Clippers

Last. Game. Of. The. Season. WOOHOO!!!

Can you believe it's already the last game of the season? It seems like just 7 months ago that I was gearing up for the first game of the season.

There are some things I wanted to do that I didn't:

Make more videos with Suns pictures
Go to more games
Write up every game with super details

But there are some things that I did get to do as well:

Get a GREAT community here on Bright Side of the Sun.
Write up MOST of the games (although maybe not with as much detail as I should have)
Get ripped on personally by Mavs fans when I retracted my vote for Dirk as MVP
Get to watch the Suns in the playoffs

The last one hasn't happened yet but it will start in a few days. And I can't wait!

Until that time, the Suns still have one more game to play against the Clippers. This game doesn't mean anything for the Suns. But it could affect who plays the Mavericks. If the Clippers lose, they are going to be out of the playoffs. If they win, I think it depends on what the Warriors do. Nothing is going to be known for sure until Wednesday, I believe.

What are your thoughts on the game, how much the starters should play, whether the Suns should try to win, etc?

That's ok

I got ripped on personally by Suns fans for not retracting my vote for Dirk as MVP. I've since come around though. He won't get it, but Nash is the real MVP this season.

i wonder if d'antoni should have just rested the starters.

stumbled across this "cute" article about nash and nowitzki...a pretty good read and its funny how he describes nowitzki's not-so-graceful moves.

... thanks for the link. What a cool article (all 7 pages of it). I've personally never heard any real life stories about Nash, just basketball stuff, so this was really interesting. Thanks!

Thanks for the link, that was a great read!! It really shows how Nash doesn't like to be thought of above others, and this ironically makes him even more likeable above others even more. :-)

Glad I missed the last game

I did not go to the game tonight (I sold my ticket) because I had made a commitment to go to the DBacks game tonight. When I left the DB game, only 3 minutes were remaining in the LAC-Phx game, and the Suns stil had a chance to win. They did not, just like the previous day in Houston. It's brutal having back to back games this late in the season, and not having any reason to win (other than matching the franchise record). Both games were against teams that had something to play for (esp. LAC).

I still think it was a good practice for the Suns. They found out what they did not do well, and that information will come in handy when they prepare for the playoffs.

So the season ended with a thud, but it was a nice ride. I hope the Sun can put it together for 4 rounds and bring the championship trophy home.

i agree

not a big deal at all, like you said both houston and l.a. clippers had strong motivation and the Suns didn't, and yet almost won both. And it does help to point out the rebounding problem which seems to come and go. I'm not so sure of how much of the rebounding problem is a lack of effort on the suns bigs, or just a matter of some teams will always kill us in rebounding. I like to think it's about intensity.

Rebounding and intensity

I think they go hand in hand. When the Suns play with intensity (usually against elite teams) they do well in rebounding. In the last two games they may have played soft because they did not want to risk injury at this time. If they were playing teams that did not have so much at stake, they could have won with less effort. Unfortunately the dice did not fall their way and they lost. I just hope they can forget about these losses and focus on the playoffs.
