Huge stat of the Suns vs Spurs series

I was reading an article on AZCentral and I think they gave the stat that will decide the series:

"The Spurs went 2-12 when allowing 100 or more points during the regular season."

So that's the key.  The Suns score over 100 points in the game they have a good chance of winning.  They don't?  The likelihood of the Spurs winning the series goes up.

I guess we'll see how the first game goes to see if the stat holds true.  During the regular season, the Suns scored 100 points against the spurs twice and lost once in overtime.  The scored less than 100 against the Spurs once and they lost that game.

just like the coach of the suns was saying
I sure hope they can do it! It's an awesome time right now, right before the series, the best offensive team vs the best defensive team. Nice stat, thanks!

Offensive beats defense
In the NBA great offense will beat great defense. Unlike the adage about great pitching beating greating hitting in basketball its the otherway around.

The Suns with plenty of time to prepare and react over a 7 game series should be able to score on SA.

Defensively they should have no problem stopping the Spurs when they need to.

My game plan though would be a kind of rope-a-dope defense. Don't play too tough. Let them get open shots and bait them into shooting. I have noticed that the Suns energy is actually feed of the other team scoring too. Play man to man and let Duncan get his all night down low. He can't beat the Suns by himself and and just like Kobe if he is getting all the touches the other guys will go cold. The more he is scoring down low the more he has to run full court to get back as the Suns push each posession. By the 4th Qtr he will be tired and then the Suns can lock down on defense and put the game away.

The Spurs are tough minded and experienced and play great team defense but the Suns have shown their metal and play great team offense and they have considerable more talent at almost every position.

I blow out in either game 1 or 2 wouldn't surprise me at all. When the Suns get a lead the Spurs will have to speed up and they don't play well that way any more. When they go big the smaller and faster Suns forwards can abuse them. Both Marion and Diaw can create off the dribble and who is going to guard them?

The more I think about this series and the match-ups the more I like our chances.

The Suns were on their way but....
the refs got in their way. I am not saying this game was decided entirely by the refs but those two horrible foul calls on STAT impacted the game in a huge way. I am more and more disgusted with the NBA refs and with Stern who lets them get away with bad calls.
