Hill will get to keep #33

East Valley Tribune is reporting that Grant Hill will continue to wear number 33 as he begins his new career with the Suns.

No one has worn that number since Alvan Adams ended his 13-year career with the Suns in 1988. But Phoenix's all-time leader in games played (988), rebounds (6,937) and steals (1,237), who is now the vice president of facility management at US Airways Center, told the Suns he was OK with putting his number back in circulation for a player of Hill's stature and character.

What a classy gesture by Adams!

Hill will be officially signing with the Suns today. There's a press conference announced on Suns.com for 11:30am Pacific.

I love Double A
In the late 70's my grandfather had season tickets and my brother and I went to Suns games w/ him, my dad and my uncle all the time. We would eat at the Hamburger Works on 15th and Thomas which is still there and then go to the old Mad House on McDowell.

I grew up w/ that team - Adams, Davis, Westphal, Ronnie Lee, Gar Heard, Truck Robinson and of course Joe Proski's huge hair which could be seen from the parking lot at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

In those days I would sneak a transitor radio into my bedroom and fall asleep under the covers listening to Al McCoy call the away games. There is no better sports announcer anywhere then Al McCoy.

Its great seeing those guys still hanging around as part of the Suns organization - Adams and Connie Hawkins(who plays tennis at the Phx parks and rec center where I play which is quite a sight). And even Westphal coaching again w/ the Mavs. I am not the least bit surprised that Double A would give up his number for Hill. Class act all the way.

If you ever get a chance to catch an old Suns game on ESPN Classics I highly recommend it. They were a fun team even if they lacked inside muscle and physical toughness. Some things never change.

no worries......
your doing a great job....I would assume that most Suns fans are Pacific time and thats cool.  Maybe I just need to move back to Phoenix....I mean heck...its only been almost 30 years since I lived there...it couldn't of changed that much...lol.  Just kidding..I was stationed in Yuma twice...I know its changed.

yuma
my job has routes that go to Yuma, to the hospital there, that sure is a growing town, too many small towns in Az seem like they're dying, or just hanging in there, as opposed to Phx's crazy growth.

my father..
years ago sat next to alvin adams on a plane flight,
He talked to him about some things, and said Alvin Adams was a really smart and nice guy.
