"Amare Day" Continues

No self-respecting Amare Day would be complete without some YouTube highlights of the man himself. If you're reading this from work, you might want to put on your headphones or mute the volume. Wouldn't want to get anyone in trouble with the boss.

First, a top-10 from last season:

Amare in a high school slam dunk contest:

The famous Nash-to-Amare "header dunk" from the 2005 All Star Dunk contest:

Last, one of the many, many "Amare Mix" videos on YouTube. This one has plays from both before and after the "lost" year. I picked it for that reason, and because I liked the music. The lyrics kind of fit with a lot of the "life story" comments Amare makes to the media about how God and religion have played a role in seeing him through the tough times.

Still can't get enough YouTubes of Amare? Go here for about 1600 more of them.

Late Amare Day Fun!
Well at the request of TexSUN I guess I'll provide a link to the Amare video I made a while ago.  It's by no means very professional (I really just made it because I was bored).  Here you go!!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyayQExn7nU

More Days
Isn't this site overdue for the Suns Dancers day?  The new ladies were announced.  Give the public more of what it wants and host a special day for the special ladies.

Now there's an interesting idea
Let me think about this some more. It's a great idea, I'm just not sure I can do it justice (It probably comes as no shock that I don't follow that aspect of the team all that closely). In the meantime, there was a fairly lengthy interview with a couple of the dancers at the end of that KTAR broadcast yesterday. I skipped past it because I was running out of time before work so I've no idea what was said, but it would probably help quench your thirst for more info on the dancers while you're waiting on me to get my act together here. :)

Mmmmmmm.....SUNS Basketball !!!
"Give the public more of what it wants" ---- or what YOU want???! I can't speak for the general public, though I WILL assure you that the basketball fans want to see SUNS BASKETBALL !!! With all due respect to the Suns Dancers, the FANS are the GREATEST cheerleaders in the league! I find your "Mmmmmm" comment, utterly sexist and a bit juvenile. With regards, from a graduate  highschool cheerleader and athlete (class of '78).

I guess there's a first time for everything
I've never, before today, realized that enjoying a beer could be considered a sexist statement.  Although I guess I'd have to admit that drinking beer could be considered juvenile by some.  But then again, I'm at a sports-related website to have some fun and not be lectured at.  The problem with being on the internet and not at your local pub is that sometimes you can get persons who (1) don't know the difference between a comment and a signature line, (2) read way too far into things for a variety of reasons that I don't even pretend to have an inkling about, (3) cannot engage in conversation without getting overly emotional (well, too many Guinnesses can do that to you, too), (4) think that everyone who likes cheerleaders is some kind of perv, and (5) don't really know how to take a tongue-in-cheek comment and have fun with it.

And, sometimes, one can just be having a bad day and over-react to what others write.

Mmmmm ... Guinness

The Mmmmm comment
Lori Ann: In case it wasn't clear from his comments above, that's JSun's signature that gets auto-attached to all of his posts. It's referring to the beer, not the girls. I actually think the idea of doing a "dancer day" would be kind of interesting (and I'm female too, in case you didn't know). I rather like reading about more than just the guys who take the floor every night. It's one of the reasons I found Paul Shirley's "12th-man perspective" blog so interesting when he was with the Suns. But like I said in the earlier comment, I don't really follow the dancers all that closely, so I'd have to do some research. (Plus I lack the "male" perspective, so I'm not sure I can do it justice anyway). But I still like the idea, so we'll see.

Thanks for your feedback RE: mmmmm..........
I instinctively reacted to the comment: "Give the public more of what it wants [Suns Dancers]". I respect the writer's right to freely share his or her original thoughts and comments --though not to speculate or speak on behalf of the public, as to ITS wants. I'm looking forward to a GREAT season. Cheers to ALL the great fans and most of all: OUR PHOENIX SUNS!!!  Thanks for the feedback TexSUN and "mmmmm Guinness" / JSun  .....SUNS IN '08 !!!

That's Amare' !!!
Thanks for the GREAT clips! This just gears me up more for the 2007-08 season !!! Watching replays of MVSteve, Amare and co., made the rap "music" tolerable. Being a lifelong Suns fan, I like hearing Al McCoy's voice and spontaneous excitement and catch-phrases, when such spectacular plays unfold. "OH BROTHER!"

Welcome!
Hey, Lori Ann! I see your comments on Suns.com all the time. You are truly a "superfan", as your name implies. (And you also apparently live in one of my favorite places on earth, so I am a tad envious as well). About the music, I definitely made that part of my criteria for picking which clip to use for the "mix". Almost all of them were set to some kind of rap or "hip-hop" type music, but I thought this one especially seemed to fit with a lot of what Amare says to the media when asked about his past and his upbringing. But you can always hit the 'mute' button if you don't just want to watch the highlights without having your ears assaulted. :)

"UNCLE!!!!!!!!!!!"
Okay TexSUN.... You got me on that one! Being that it's Amare' Day, and rap is HIS preference of music, I must yield to his greatness: Standing Tall And Talented - "STAT" !!! (aka: Amare' Stoudemire)

Music
A couple of observations:
  1.  The music was great.  Who's the artist so I can download it on iTunes?
  2.  I was more impressed seeing highlights when he was wearing number 1 as opposed to number 32 -- it made me feel better.
  3.  I'm a little concerned because he did look more explosive wearing #32.
  4.  A couple of his better highlight dunks (both wearing #1) looked like soccer plays -- Nash drove to the middle and Stoudemire overlapped from behind and received a lead pass.  I don't know whether that's a common play in basketball, but it's a stand-by in soccer.  Maybe STAT playing soccer over the summer will help him understand Nash even better.

Mmmmmmmmm.....
....rap music. It really goes with the Amare clips. Thanks TexSUN!

I like cheerleaders well enough, but Guinness is way better. Let's compromise and invite the dancers to have a Guinness with us while we watch Suns clips.
