Interim Intro

Here are some thoughts about the Suns' interim introduction from the game Friday night.

Star-divide

The soundtrack seemed to skip.  Several players were in different spots and I think the deletions didn't flow very well.  Boris seemed to get more time, too.

Skinner got in, which is something I've been advocating for a long time, but he didn't do anything cool.  I suppose with practice and all ...

Sean Marks got in.  WTF?  I like him and all but Pike gets more burn and we all know DJ's numbers are going to increase.  He's also just too friendly for the tenor of the intro.

What to do with Shaq?  STAT's already busting through the brick wall.  Here are some random thoughts:

  1.  The shot of Shaq pointing to his ring finger.
  2.  Shaq driving a diesel and flattening other teams and/or Stern.
  3.  Kazaam coming in on a magic carpet.
  4.  Shaq destroying the backboard in a Suns uniform.
  5.  Interview splicing:
Q:  What do you think of last year's suspensions from David Stern?

  A:  Who?

You and that intro
You're really taking this intro thing seriously aren't you. :)

I like the one of Shaq pointing to his ring finger, although it might be a little jinx-worthy kind of like "eyes on the prize". Second choice is the 'destroy the backboard' one. I think after this season, the Suns will know more about what they've got with Shaq in a Suns uniform, and a more appropriate intro for him can be done for next year.

Then again, I should probably stay out of this since I only get to see the intro one or two times a year anyway....

It's Important
Mainly because JSun2 really loves it.  He makes sure we get in early just so that he doesn't miss it.  He likes watching the lay-up drills, the National Anthem, the whole nine yards.  He's a boy after your heart, I suppose.

Speaking of intro and pre-game
Friday I took a new VP for our company that was in town from Florida to the game. He's a big football fan but being from Jacksonville has never seen an NBA game. He's in his 50's or so and during the warm ups didn't realize the guys on the court were the real NBA players. He thought they looked too young and were some kind of high school team pre-game thing!

He deffinately was amazed at all the in game entertainment crap from the cheerleaders to the gorilla skits to the games during time outs. And of course the flying through the air trampoline act. He did notice that the crowd was at its loudest during the t-shirt toss. Did I mention that at the Bobcats the girl actually threw me a t-shirt and it was a blue Right Guard shirt with no mention of the Suns at all. I am never standing for one of those things again! And of course he was intrigued with Taco Time and the free fries after the game.

He did enjoy the game itself and it was competitive. He quickly grasped the frustration with Boris and how good Amare and Steve are. And he was prepared when I booed Shaq on the jumbo-tron as well.

Strange times
Yeah things are sure going to be different now that Shaq is in town.
Well if Shaq can stay healthy and Diaw continues to improve (this last month has seen him play alot better) then perhaps we have a chance.  But until i see what Shaq can do in a Suns uniform then I'll be very leery of this trade.

BTW still thinkin a Metal themed intro song would be friggen amazing!!!!

"The Skillful Warrior takes his stand on invulnerable ground; he lets slip no chance of defeating the enemy." Sun Tzu

wow...srp....
tough break on the shirt, that would tick me off to no end, friggen right guard? %#%$# Reminds me of being on a cruise, playing a slot game trying to win a package that had a $20 and a wad of cash, looked like it might be a few hundred, an hour later, I won it and found it was 5 ones in the wad, friggen cruise ships, I burned it down (little strong...)..still mad... These teams are really missing a chance to have something cool happen with the shirt thing, they could be shooting out sun jerseys with autographs, but of course, flip side, they'd probably be worth less if there were so many given out, also people would hurt others trying to get at them...have to have a metal detector at the entrance if people are fighting for the silly junk t shirts now, imagine suns jerseys....people#$@$
