It's Official - Shaq Is a Sun. Time to Get On Board

Well, all protests aside, Shaq is now officially a Sun. Whatever we may personally think about the trade, I guess it's time for us fans to get on board. Time to wish Shawn Marion well in Miami. Time to forget Shaq used to be a Laker, and accept that he's on our side now. He says he won't let us down. Let's give him a chance to make good on that. To help get us started in the right direction, here are a few thoughts on the bright side of the trade:

  1. No more Marcus Banks.
  2. More DJ Strawberry.
  3. A happier workplace since Amare doesn't have to play center anymore (Shawn doesn't have to play the four spot anymore either, at least not here).
  4. A rejuvenated Shaq helped lead a Miami Heat team to the championship just two short years ago, and that team was much less talented than the Suns are even without the Matrix.
  5. We have a new mentor for Amare who has four rings in his pocket.
I still can't say I'm overjoyed to be cheering for a guy I've spent most of my NBA fan-life despising, but I suppose I'll get over it if the Suns are the last team standing at the end of June. (Right now, I feel more like this).

In other, completely unrelated news, Steve Nash will be in the 3-point shooting contest at the All-Star game this year.

I'll be the first to say this, we need to add a section to this website called SHAQ WORDS, and what they mean? seriously, he is entertaining

The next big question, in an espn article Jan 25th, they mentioned the heat wanted him back playing by tonights game, does this mean shaq might be suited up and play in the next few days?

OMG
I just thought of this, after reading your post, it's like shaq was the terminator, in the first movie, but now he's come back to help us hahaha

hopefully he doesn't show up naked in the street (aka time travel), he can do the rest of the stuff to the other teams, that'd be alright...

can anyone think of a stranger trade, I can't, but maybe....

also
Now lakers - gasol
Suns- Shaq

lets see what dallas does, because they need to do something, not a fan of dallas, but I think they will be next to aggressively roll the dice

I don't think kid is their answer, ...

I can't ever remember 2 big names (plus KG) being traded so closely together

awesome

Sheesh
Jeez, I kinda hate myself for reacting this way but... I'm actually legitimately saddened by this. Both of the fact that Marion is gone and also that we most likely will never get to see the Suns we have the last few years. I'm sitting here half-sobbing at 1:20 am (I'm in Sweden), not wanting  to go to bed. I've spent the last half hour just looking for some way out of this...

RIP Suns, You will be missed. :(

who's next ?!?
I think we should trade Steve Nash for Penny Hardaway, Raja Bell for Dennis Scott, Grant Hill for Derek Anderson, and Amare for Grant ... we would almost win the title in 95

Law Enforcement
My only positive take on this is that if Shaq sticks around the Valley, he can probably give Sherrif Joe a run for his money for county elections. Technically he has a law enforcement license or something...

Dallas...
...won't have a knee-jerk reaction to the recent western conference trades. That would be silly. Like $40,000,000.00 over 2 seasons silly.

In fact, their best move would be to do nothing at all, which it looks like they will.

No-win situation
How's this for a no-win situation. Lakers playing Atlanta. Since we didn't get to swap picks with Miami as part of the deal, I'm not sure who to root for. OK, Atlanta. But it's painful.

Lakers
Root for the Lakers.  We need the Hawks' pick.  We'll beat LA.
