Suns Miss Out on Tyronn Lue

The Arizona Republic's Paul Coro is reporting in his blog that Tyronn Lue is headed to Dallas. For some reason, I can't bring myself to be too upset about this. Maybe it's because I never watched Lue much, and as a result, my most vivid memory of him is from a game against Denver back in 2004-05 when he played for Atlanta. Lue was involved in one of the most hilarious and futile exchanges I've ever seen on a basketball court. He got pick-pocketed by Eduardo Najera, and in frustration started throwing punches. Unfortunately, I can't find any YouTubes of the play, but just imagine a tiny 6'0" point guard flailing his fist into the belly of a 6'8", 230ish immovable object who continued dribbling down the court like Lue wasn't even there.

And then, there's always this classic highlight from when Lue played for the Lakers:

Seriously, I'm filing this one under "would have been nice", but on the other hand, maybe missing out will leave some minutes open for DJ.

Now, here's an interesting conspiracy theory
From today's power rankings on ESPN:
Was a home loss to Philly secretly part of the deal to get the Sixers to waive Giricek early enough to be playoff-eligible in Phoenix? If not, Suns fans might be justifiably panicky (for once) about the Shaq deal.

Um yeah... That's it. I'm going with that one. LOL.

No, they tried, but couldn't win trying
The Suns don't have to lose on purpose.  They have enough trouble winning when they're trying (at least I think they're trying).  Seriously, do you see a win before the next Memphis game?  I don't.

Hmm...
Maybe it's time to consider a site name change. Maybe something like "Black Hole of the Super Nova" or something.

The bright side, just for you, Tex
All is not lost.  But any team needs an identity.  This team has lost a large chunk of it.  Vets like Bell and Hill don't seem to know what to do.  We say Nash is slipping, but how about giving him some help?  As I remarked in another thread, this is Amare time.  Time to see if he is a Kobe or LBJ, or is he a Dominique wilkins or a McGrady, huge talents that never won anything or made their teammates better.

It's not just you
The overwhelming majority of people in the poll think the Suns are going to be a first-round casualty, or else miss the playoffs altogether. The way the Suns have been playing, I can't say I disagree with that either. I do think they'll make the playoffs, mainly because of the cushion they already had. But it's sure looking like it's going to be even worse than I thought, and I was the one saying they'd finish around #6 because working Shaq in was going to be painful with the tough schedule. I wasn't expecting losses to the likes of Philadelphia, though, or needing late-game heroics to get past the Grizzlies. If this is the team we have, then it's going to be a very long summer.

Lue
Lue wouldn't help.  He is a boneheaded player that is a cross between Smush Parker and Marcus Banks.

He won't help the Mavs, either, unless they plan to play him in the last 34 seconds of a tie game when they bench Kidd.  I think Dallas signed him simply to spite us.

Ouch!

A cross between Smush Parker and Marcus Banks??

That's the worst diss ever!

Hah!

Lue is a notoriously bad defender because of his size.

He would have been buried on our bench and I guess he sensed

[1] The Suns are flailing right now
[2] No matter how bad it gets there, I still won't get off the bench!
